MATHEMATICS 10 SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT 2.

Directions: Read each item carefully and solve. Write your answers on a separate sheet of
paper.

I. Identification
With circle O on the right. Identify the following if it is a secant, tangent, segment, or sector
of the circle.
1. AD
2. ED
3. Shaded region bounded by <CBD and CD
4. Shaded region bounded by ED and ED

II. TRUE or FALSE. Refer to the given figures to determine whether the statement is true or
false.
1. AB ≅ BC 2. CB =155° 4. <A + <B = 90°
3.CAB = 300° 5. <CAD + <DBC = 180°

III. Do what is asked

1. Chords AB and CD intersect at O. If BC = 40° , find
a. m AD =
b. m CAD =
c. m AC =
d. m BDC =
e. m <BOD =

2. In the figure RP is tangent to circle O at N

a. Find m<MNR, if m MN = 70
b. Find m MQN, if m < 1 = 125

3. PA and PC are secants as shown in the figure below. If m BD = 25 and m AC = 45, find
a. m < BOD =
b. m < ADC =
c. m < BCD =
d. m < P =
4. Find the value of x.
a. b. c.

IV. Prove it!

Prove the given theorem
Given: In circle D, <BFH intercepts the semicircle BAH
Prove: <BFH is a right angle

STATEMENTS REASONS
1. < BFH intercepts semicircle BAH 1.
2.m BAH 2. The degree measure of a semicircle is 180
3.m < BFH = ½ m BAH 3. The measure of an inscribed angle is one-
half the measure of its intercepted arc
4.m < BFH = ½ (180) or m < BFH = 90 4. Substitution
5. < BFH is a right angle 5.

V. Problem Solving.

1. A pizza has a diameter of 60 cm and is divided into 20 equal slices. What is the area of each
slice?
