Course Description
Creating a lesson plan, updating student’s scores, presenting multimedia in classroom, research material on the internet,
sending email are day-to-day tasks that teachers perform in 21st century education. In order to carry out these tasks
effectively, teachers need to have a solid basis of skills in using technologies that support them. These skills are essential
not only to carry out the tasks but also as a starting point for developing more in-depth competencies in using these
important productivity applications in teaching and learning practices.
The ICT Essentials for Teachers course is specifically designed for teachers to acquire basic ICT skills. The course is guiding
each teacher step-by-step through the basics of computers, office software, internet and email. The numerous practical
exercises and the integration of real work scenarios into the modules transform this course into a hands-on experience for
teachers. By the end of the course participants will feel confident in using a computer, Microsoft office and internet and
will feel enthused to practice skilled learned and to learn more. At the end of the course, each participant will be awarded
a certificate of completion.
Target Participant
Beginners with no or very little knowledge of computers.
Teaching methodology
This course will be delivery through face-to –face Instructor Led Training (ILT) sessions. The course combines lectures
demonstrations and practical exercises to achieve its objectives. Instructor will demonstrate skills on projector screen with
participants replicating the skills hands-on using computers in a Lab. At the end of each topic participants will perform
small practical quizzes to demonstrate competencies on the learned skills.
Course Objectives
Main objective of this course is to provide teachers who are new to ICT with competencies to use ICT into their daily
working life. By the end of this course participant will be able to:
Understand basic concepts of ICT and computer hardware.
Using computers and manage files and folders.
Create and format documents using Microsoft word software
Create and format a spreadsheets using Microsoft excel software
Create and format a presentation using Microsoft power point software
Understand basic internet concepts and search for information using web browser
Communicating using email by sending, replying and forwarding emails messages.
Use acquired skills to develop productivity tools to support their learning and teaching process.
Participant Role
Students are expected to participate actively in class which includes the following behaviors:
Attend all class sessions
Complete practical exercises during the class to demonstrate skills gained
Ask questions & answer questions when asked
Avoid using smartphone during class session
