1 Introduction

TRT300 is applied to measure the ratio and group vector of various three or single
phase transformer according to IEC60076 and IEEE C57.12.90, which possesses
intelligence, multiple functions, strong anti-interference, simple operation, small
volume, light weight etc features. All data and test results can be showed on
320*240 LCD screen. The test results can be printed by the micro printer or saved
on the storage of the tester.

4.1 Connection port

1
The total connection ports of the tester are 6: marked in A, B, C, a, b, c
The connection of above ports are as following:
1)Three phase transformer test
A,B,C are connected to HV side terminal A,B,C of transformer
a, b, c are connected to LV side terminal a, b, c of transformer
2) Single phase transformer test
A, B are connected to HV side terminal of single phase transformer
a, b are connected to LV side terminal of single phase transformer
C, c can not be connected.

4.2 Input switch functions

The input switch includes 3 function keys. The detailed function of those keys is
showed in figure 1. Turn right and Turn left keys are menu selection keys, Key
down is to enter the selected option.

5 Operation

5.1 Startup screen

The tester shows startup screen as the figure 2 when the tester is power on.
Please press down the input switch to enter main menu selection.
The date time is showed on the left bottom of the screen and the current
firmware version is showed on the right bottom of the screen in x.x.x mode.

5.2 Menu selection screen

Figure 3 Menu selection screen

Menu selection of the tester is showed as figure 3. There are 5 buttons on screen,

3
and the functions are as following:
1) Start test: show the test parameters setting screen as figure 5.
2) Test records: show test records selection menu to view the test results of the
selected item.
3) Settings: show tester setting screen. The setting items include date setting,
language selection and accuracy calibration.
4) Upload: enter the PC connection mode and all the data saved in the tester
can be uploaded to PC when received the command from PC application.
5) Return: back to the start-up screen

5.3 Test parameters setting screen

Figure 4 Test parameters setting screen

The test parameters setting screen is showed as figure 4.The details of setting
item are as following:
1) Transformer Type
The test object: distribution transformer and power transformer.
2) Transformer Name
Rotate the input switch the cursor position would be changed. The transformer

4
name could be changed when the background color of item is black.
3) Standard
There are two standards to be selected. One is standard IEC60076, which is
used to test voltage ratio. Another is standard IEEE C57.12.90, which is used to
test turns ratio.
4)Connection mode
The connection mode can be chosen in “single phase”, “YY”, “YD”, “DY”, “DD”.
When move the cursor and rotate the input switch, it will be switched.
Note: If the sample is not a three-phase transformer please select single. If the
sample is a three-phase transformer, please select the right connection mode
according to transformer’s nameplate. D stands for delta connection, Y stands for
star connection, DY stands for delta connection in primary and star connection in
secondary.
5)Ratio
The standard ratio marked in transformer’s nameplate
6)Ratio step
This parameter is applied to calculate the current ratio range of transformer. For
example, there are five terminals in primary of 10kv/380V DD power transformer.
The first terminal is 10kv, and others are 10.2kv, 10.4kv, 10.6kv and 10.8kv. You
can set the parameters as following:
Transformation: Transformer/PT
Connection mode: DD
Ratio: 010000: (000220*1)
Ratio step: %2.00
7)Start
Press down the input switch when the cursor is located in start button. The test
will start and you will hear a relay operate noise from the internal of the tester.
The screen of the tester will show “Please waiting….”. The test will be ended
within 30 seconds.
All the test results will be showed on one screen as figure 5.

8)Return
Back to the main menu selection screen

5.4 Test results screen

The test results screen is showed as figure 6. The details of the items in this
screen are as follow:
1) Ratio
The measured ratio value.
2) Group
It is the group vector for three phase transformer, and it will show the same
polarity or reverse polarity for single phase transformer, PT.
3) Error
The error of standard ratio and measured ratio.
4) Tap
The position of tap changer.
5) Current
The coil excitation current in test voltage.
6) Save
Save the results to the internal memory of tester.

6
7) Print
Print the test result by micro printer.
8) Return
Back to main menu selection screen.

5.5 Typical test

5.5.1 Power Transformer

10kV/400V DYN11 Power Transformer

There are five terminals in primary:
1)10500V ( Range in the test result shall be “ – 1 “ )
2)10000V ( Prime terminal Range in the test result shall be “ 0 “ )
3)9500V ( Range in the test result shall be “ 1 “ )
Radio Step = ( 10500 – 10000 ) / 10000 = 5%
