Edible Cell - Guideline and Rubrics

Students are assigned to construct an edible model of either a plant or animal cell using edible materials like frosting, candies, pasta, beans, and fruit to represent the organelles. They must include all required cell structures and functions in their edible cell creation. Students will also complete an organelle function sheet to explain their edible cell model and a plant/animal cell chart. Their edible cell will be graded based on accuracy, completeness, creativity, neatness, and a presentation explaining their cell model.

Performance Task 2: Construct an edible model of either a plant or
an animal cell, plan the ingredients for your creation, and present
your model to the class.

Guidelines:
 Be sure to include all cell structures listed below and use labels
on your cell.
 Edible – you can use frosting, candies, pasta, beans, fruit, etc.
to represent each part; make it look as realistic as possible .
 Complete the organelle function sheet as your create your cell.
 Your edible cell should be a single serving size; please keep it
small, should not be larger than a paper plate
 Your project will be graded for accuracy, completeness,
creativity, and neatness.
 In addition to the cell, you must also complete the plant and
animal cell chart attached.
 You will also be graded on your presentation for your
explanation and delivery.(During online class)
