COT Lesson Plan

The detailed lesson plan summarizes a lesson on cell organelles. The objectives are for students to identify organelles involved in cell division, label cell organelles, and understand the importance of cell division. The lesson involves an activity where students unscramble terms and answer questions about organelle functions in groups. It assesses students through a worksheet where they match organelle terms with their definitions.

Detailed Lesson Plan

Lesson 1 (Heredity, Inheritance and Variation of Traits)

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson 80% of the students will be able to:

a. Identify the different organelles of the cell that involved in cell division.
b. Label the different organelles of the cell,
c. Show continual desire to the importance of cell division

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Organelles of the Cell
Resource Materials OBIM Worksheets Visual aids
References Science Learner’s Module Grade 8

III. Procedure 4A’s

Teachers’ activity Learners’ activity

A. Preparatory activities

1. Prayer

Let us all stand for a prayer

Bell lead a prayer In the name of the father……. Amen

3. Checking Attendance Present ma’am

As I call your name say present. Jave
Okay very good!

4. Review
Alright, what was your lesson
yesterday? It was all about Component of healthy diet and
healthy practices of the Digestive system.
Very good.

So how important is diet to our health? Good nutrition is an important part of leading
a healthy lifestyle. Combined with physical
activity to promote overall health.
B. PREPARATORY DEVELOPMENT
ACTIVITY

Okay class we will be having an activity.

Group yourselves into 4. You will be given
worksheets for your activity today.

I will give you 10 minutes to answer the

given question. You may starts now!
( After five minutes)

Time is up. Exchange your paper to the

other group and let us check your answers. (Exchange worksheet)

ANALYSIS
( provide worksheets)

1. What are the organelles that involved

in cell division? The organelles that are involved in cell division
are Nucleus, Mitochondria, Vacuoles……
Lysosomes.

2. What will happen if the cell does not

undergo in cell division? We would probably be in a lot of trouble if
didn’t have mitosis! In fact, we probably
wouldn’t exist at all.

3. What do you think will happen if there

is unstoppable cell division? It can cause health problems in the body. If any
of these signals are faulty or missing, the result
can be cancer, where too many cells are
produced.

4. What is the importance of cell? Cell are the basic units of living things. The
human body is composed of trillions of cells, all
with their own specialized function. Cells are
the basic structures of all living organism. Cells
provide structure for the body, take in
nutrients from food and carry out important
function.
ABSTRACTION
( Provide worksheets)

Are you done answering? Yes ma’am.

Okay, Jess. What is Nucleus? Nucleus is the largest organelle in the cell.

Correct. Luke, What is ribosome? Ribosome is the smallest particles which

found individually in the cytoplasm.
Very good. How about rough endoplasmic
reticulum Val? Rough endoplasmic reticulum is line with
ribosomes and is rough in appearance.

Alright. Meg, what is vacuoles? Vacuoles is storage and transport, digestive

function in plant cells.

Good. How about the mitochondria, Liz? Mitochondria is a round tube like that are
surrounded by a double membrane.

Correct. Jowell, what is lysosome? Lysosome is the small sac- like structure.

Very good. Belle, what is golgi body? Golgi body distributes lipids and proteins in
our body.

Good job. What about cytoplasm, Kian? Cytoplasm is a jelly-like substance composed
of mainly water.

Awesome. Jude, what is a membrane? Membrane is a bi-lipid membranous layer

composed of proteins and carbohydrates.

Very good.
APPLICATION
( provide worksheet)
