Single Pass DADF-C1
Subject:
Measure against intermittent occurrence of image shift and/ or skew when using Single Pass DADF-C1
[Symptom]
When a Single Pass DADF-C1 is used, the scanned images and printed out images may have image shift and/ or be skewed
intermittently.
[Reference] Below shows the sample of image shift caused in the direction of main scanning direction (shown in arrow).
The image on the left is in normal state and the image on the right is shifted in the main scanning direction. In addition, the
scanned image may shift in the sub-scanning direction or be skewed.
[Cause]
Due to factors such as transportation or installation, the height of ADF deviates. In such case, the adjustment value of the
Scanner Unit (for front side) does not become appropriate and the edge of the paper cannot be detected correctly. If edge
detection is not correct, the skew correction results in the above symptom.

[Service work]
When the above symptom occurs, follow the steps below and perform the works.
1) Use the “Height check sheet” attached to this SI, to perform [height adjustment] (Refer to attached”
Height_check_sheet.pdf“)
Adjust the height to about 0.1mm (thickness of the paper).
2) Select Service mode > COPIER > FUNCTION > CCD > LMPADJ to perform light intensity adjustment.
3) Select Service mode > COPIER > FUNCTION > INSTALL > STRD-POS to perform stream reading position adjustment.
4) Perform white level adjustment, by executing in the order of Service mode > COPIER > FUNCTION > CCD > DF-WLVL1/
DF-WLVL2/ DF-WLVL3/DF-WLVL4.
5) Prepare either an A4 or LTR paper and a black marker. Refer to below and create a chart for Front/Back Side Difference
Correction adjustment. Use a marker to fill the margin of the leading edge in the paper feed direction 2mm or more, for
both front and backside of the paper.
Also, fill the top and bottom edges 50mm or more, for both front and backside of the paper.
[Caution] Dry the filled part well before using the created chart
6) Execute the service mode > FEEDER > FUNCTION > ADJ-SKW using the front/back difference correction adjustment
created in step 5) to perform the difference correction adjustment for front/back sides.
[Reference] When the symptom occurs and in case the RCONT is cleared and back up value cannot be returned, or when a
scanned image has trouble while skew detection/adjustment is temporary turned off (ADJ-SKW: 1), perform adjustment a).
If a certain amount of shift is seen constantly, not intermittently, on the image that has skew detection/ adjustment done,
perform adjustment b).
a) In the case that the RCONT is cleared and back up value cannot be returned, or when a scanned image has a trouble
while skew detection/ adjustment is temporary turned OFF(ADJ-SKW: 1)
a-1) Front side shading position adjustment: Service mode > COPIER > FUNCTION > INSTALL > RDSHDPOS
a-2) Height adjustment: Use a height check sheet to adjust the height to the thickness of a paper (about 0.1 ㎜).
a-3) Right Angle Adjustment (Slant Adjustment): Set to SKW-SW: 1, and adjust in the order of front side and back side
after height adjustment.
a-4) Adjustment of the White Plate: To be done when Right Angle Adjustment (ADF slant adjustment) was done
a-5) Light intensity adjustment※1: Service mode > COPIER > Function > CCD > LMPADJ
a-6) Front side Stream Reading Position Adjustment※1: Service mode > COPIER > FUNCTION > INSTALL > STRD-
POS
a-7) White Level Adjustment※1: Service mode > COPIER > FUNCTION > CCD > DF-WLVL1/ DF-WLVL2/ DF-
WLVL3/DF-WLVL4
a-8) Tray width adjustment: Service mode > FEEDER > FUNCTION > TRY-A4/ TRY-A4R/ TRY-A5R(or TRY-LTR/
TRY-LTRR/ TRY-STMR)
a-9) Horizontal registration direction adjustment: Set to SKW-SW:1, perform adjustment while watching the image
from Service mode > COPIER > ADJUST > ADJ-XY > ADJ-Y-DF (front side)/ ADJ-Y-DF2 (back side).
3/4
F21659-EN-01.0
a-10)Leading Edge Registration Adjustment: Set to SKW-SW: 1, Service mode > FEEDER > ADJUST > DOCST (front
side)/ DOCST2(back side)
a-11)Difference correction adjustment for front and back sides※1: Service mode > FEEDER > FUNCTION > ADJ-SKW
a-12)Auto gradation adjustment: [Setting/ registration] > [Adjustment/ Maintenance] > [Adjust Image Quality] > [Auto
Adjust Gradation]
※1
The four items described above in bold letters must be performed, after any adjustments to change mechanical
alignment, such as ADF height adjustment or right angle adjustment was made.
b) In the case that a certain amount of shift is seen constantly, not intermittently, on the image that has skew
detection/adjustment done.
b-1) Amount of change per 1 value, of the leading edge position of the image after skew adjustment(Position
adjustment in sub scanning direction): 0.1mm
Service mode > FEEDER > ADJUST > ADJ-T1 (Front)
Service mode > FEEDER > ADJUST > ADJ-T2 (Back)
b-2) Amount of change per 1 value, of the left edge position of the image after skew adjustment (Position adjustment
in main scanning direction): 0.1mm
Service mode > FEEDER > ADJUST > ADJ-L1 (Front)
Service mode > FEEDER > ADJUST > ADJ-L2 (Back)
b-3) Amount of change per 1 value, of the amount of rotation (skew amount adjustment) after skew adjustment: 0.01°
Service mode > FEEDER > ADJUST > ADJ-ROT1 (Front)
Service mode > FEEDER > ADJUST > ADJ-ROT2 (Back)
