Planting Vegetables
JP went with his mother to the market. They bought some vegetables and
fruits . Mother was not able to buy all the needed things because they have little money.
She said , “Vegetablesand fruits are now expensive.”

JP was so sorry for his mother .So , he suggestedthat they will plant
vegetables and some fruits in their backyard. With this, their problem will be solved.
They will not have to buy them in the market.

Upon arriving home, JP called his brother and sisters to prepare three

What Living Things Need


Man , plants and animals are living things. All of them need water, food and
shelter in order to grow. Love , care and attention are also needed in order to live
happily and peacefully.
Living things need food. Not just any food. It’s the food that is not only

things also need shelter to protect us from the heat and cold of weather. Some animals

Did you know that Leon Ma. Guerrero is the very first Filipino scientist.
He finished his studies in Pharmacy in 1875, even before our grandparents
were born. He was the first Filipino pharmacist. His studies on plants and
animals especially birds made him well known all over the world. As a
scientist, he was able to invent “Tikitiki, a vitamin for babies. It was made
from rice bran. When you were young, our parents gave us this vitamins
also. Have you tasted it? It has a good taste. I know it is still available in
your nearest pharmacy shop.
He worked for the Spanish government as we were still under the
Spaniards then. He was the one who designed a garden called “Manila
Botanical and Zoological Garden” . This garden was later called “ Mehan
Garden “.

Did you known that magnets are everywhere? Telephones, radios,


and computers use magnets. They are more than just the things that we
stick on our refrigerator, doors and steel cabinets to remind us things to
do. They are also used as decorations.
Magnets are used by our means of transportations because they
have power of attracting objects made of steel, iron and other metals.
Magnets come in different shapes.
Due to the discovery of magnets by a scientist, many things have
been made out of it. The magnet makes the compass to be usable by
travelers. The people who really need the compass are soldiers, pilots,
