1. Our Environment
1.1 Students should be able to understand that the environment influences how and where people live.

1.2 Students should be able to locate physical features such as landforms and bodies of water on a map or
globe.

2. Our communities
2.1 Students should be able to identify the types of characteristics that comprise a community or region.

2.2 Students should be able to distinguish between the characteristics of rural, suburban, and urban
communities and the different traits of each community.

3. Economics
3.1 Students should be able to identify how goods and services have changed over time and where goods
are produced.

3.2 Students should be able to recognize how they can prepare for their future with their work today.

Project

Economics unit project group presentation


Students should be able to design and create their own company.
Students should be able to identify their target costumer.
Students should be able to identify the goods and services their company provides.
Students should be able to identify the capital, natural and human resources they would us.

4. Citizenship
4.1 Students should be able to demonstrate positive citizenship in school and in their communities by
identifying rules and laws and what happens when they are not followed as well as the rights and
responsibilities of citizens.

5. A Growing Nation
5.1 Students should be able to understand how innovations in technology changed people's everyday lives.

Part IV. Assessment and evaluation.


Students’ performance and development will be evaluated according to different
progress-monitoring resources and assessments, such as: weekly tests, questioning strategies, ongoing
teacher observation, student self-assessment, student portfolios, presentations, projects, and end-of-year
benchmark tests.

 Classwork 40%
 Participation 15%
 Homework 10 %
 Quiz 15%
 Final Evaluation 30%

Part V. Materials and References

Students will work with an interactive notebook book and materials such as colored pencils, markers,
scissors, glue, cardboards, plastic document folders, flashcards, and technological devices, such as iPads.

Part VI. General recommendations from teacher


Communities are composed of individuals. This year you will learn to love how unique you are, and how
to embrace and respect the differences.
