Activity: Group Report on a Country


Related Topics: Modules 1 & 2 – Communication, Cultural Nuances/Differences among Countries & Varieties in Spoken/
Written Language
Preparation:
1. A group should have five or six members only.
2. Your video presentation about assigned country must cover the following areas:
a. Brief Intro about the country including:
• No. of OFWs in this country
• The register/formality, if any, of the country’s language
• 3 terms/expressions relevance to business/visitors
b. Communication style
• Contextual difference - low context, high context
• Characteristics/strategies, including verbal & nonverbal in interacting w/others
(if possible related to business setting)
c. Three (3) other cultural variations/differences – choose from the ff:
• Social differences (1 Item)– attitudes towards work and success, roles/status, concept of time
• Two of these - either High Power/Low Power distance, Masculine/Feminine, Individualist/Collectivist
d. Three (3) popular cultural activities/practices/events or traditions (of importance to investors or
visitors)
e. Three (3) most important Basic do’s and 3 don’ts for first-time visitors and/or investors.
3. Please agree as to which topic is for whom. If there are 6 members, two members will divide the tasks on letter e.
Just ensure that there is no overlapping of topics.
4. The responsibility of researching, choosing relevant ideas, creating individual short video clip for one’s part lies on
the owner of the assigned topic.

Presentation:
a. The group video presentation should only be 10-15 min. Deductions will be afforded for those who cannot reach
the minimum time frame & for every excess on the time allotment.
b. Ideally, each member of the group should be able to produce a 1-2 minute video clip of assigned topic.
c. Members from each group should make their own content for the video. Place the complete name (in all caps
and visible font style and just enough size) at the bottom part/ as subtitle during the screen time of the
member.
d. Group leader/representation shall collate all 1 -2 minute short video clip of members. (Representative/s from
each group should work hand in hand to collate the works made by their members and making it into an
INFORMATIVE & CREATIVE VIDEO OF ASSIGNED COUNTRY.
e. Group representatives should set a deadline for all members.
f. The completed and edited video should be converted into one MP4 format file.
Reminders: The GROUP VIDEO should NOT only be about 1-2 minute, but a collection of 1-2 minute video
clips made by EACH member of the group.
g. In sum, ALL MEMBERS should be IN THE VIDEO ITSELF presenting his/her assigned task. Take note, aside
from the group score, each member will also be graded accordingly.
h. Make sure every member will have equal screen time in the group video, as this may affect the group and
individual scoring.
i. The group may utilize video editing software and / or tools to produce the video. ( such as POWTOON, OBS
LIVE)

j. All other images/video clip, if not original, in the video should be referenced (in the video itself preferably at the
end).
k. Deadline for submission of video presentation is on October 7, 2022 (Friday).

General Instructions in making the video presentation:


1. The flow of the video will follow the letters of the topics.
2. Make your video informative and creative.
3. Use relevant images/clips that help transmit your content.
4. Be careful of grammatical glitches.
5. As much as possible, practice so that you will appear spontaneous and confident in the video. Use the English
language.

Scoring the Report/Sharing


1. The (detailed) scoring rubrics are the following:
2. The individual score is 30 pts. (Content, Mastery, Organization, Language Use, Delivery, Technicalities and Attire)
3. The group score is 20 pts. (Overall Content, Overall Preparation, Video Technicalities and Creativity )
