As we are facing the worldwide pandemic, the Department of Education (DepEd) faces different learning problems. Reading difficulties
among pupils is one of the problems. In Diotorin Elementary School we use the EGRA Tool to serve as one of the bases in planning,
designing/redesigning the reading instruction of the teachers and the school’s reading programs or activities to improve the overall school’s
reading performance.
Based on the reading passages and findings of the EGRA which was conducted during October 2021 to all Grade 2 & 3 pupils, it showed
that some of the pupils don’t know the sound of the letter and its name in and there are those reading levels were frustration.
By conducting remedial instructions and distributing reading materials every grading period to those identified poor readers, the pupils
increased their reading levels from frustration to instructional and independent levels.
Objectives:
• Increase the reading levels of Grade 2 & 3Students from frustration to independent level.
• Develop a habit of reading among parents and students at home.
• Conduct reading remediation.
