Jonnel Technology 2
Many parents including my grandfather and grandmother used to say that learning in the past is very
different from the learners today. They don’t have the access of technology in order for them to easily
find the knowledge/information that they want. They sometimes went to library just to borrow books
and even that books they want is limited. They don’t have photocopier to copy those pages they want,
they don’t have printers to copy the information coming from the internet, they don’t have any advance
technology that we have today. Now, learners today are always interested in using new and innovating
types of technology. We feel comfortable with technology and don’t get intimidated when new
technology is presented. We can easily surf through the internet to find answers, explanations,
information and entertainment that we want. The students use computers more often today than in the
past for research, writing, communicating, and keeping records. Technology has created new ways for
students to learn (for example, this textbook would not be possible without internet technology). Now, I
believe that the students in the future will be much more different than today, because we keep on
learning, discovering, and our technology is still advancing. The learning environment will become more
different, the way teachers teach become more wiser making the student become active in learning.
Nowadays, soft skills are more valuable than hard skills for one reason: everything changes so fast, that
your ability to adapt to changing circumstances, continuously learn new trends, think systematically and
be proactive – these are the skills that are normally valued the most now. Technology has greatly
expanded access to education and gave enormous opportunities for teenagers starting their own
startups before even they turn 18. Just by knowing how to code, they can program their website and
start doing their business. Moreover, now all information that you need is available online and you have
online forums, where you can actually ask advice of the professionals, get access to the case studies and
start self-education.
