CHAPTER-1

INTRODUCTION OF THE COMPANY

INTRODUCTION ABOUT INDUSTRY PROFILE
We can find sensors everywhere, and the whole world is full of sensors and their applications.
There is much type of sensors available around us, in our offices, gardens, shopping malls,
homes, cars, toys, etc. These sensors make our lives so easy and comfortable, starting from
applications such as switching on the lights, fans television, and automic adjustments of the room
temperature by air conditioning, fire alarm, detecting obstacles when the car is reversing making
a thumb impression etc.
A sensor is a device which receives signals as well as responding to a signal or stimulus. The
stimulus signals can be defined by the measure, property, or the state which is sensed. We also
can say that a sensor is a translator that converts a non electrical value to an electrical value. The
output signal of a sensor may be in the form of voltage, current, or charge. A sensor has many
forms of input properties and electrical output properties. If there is small change in the sensed
quantity, it will cause a small change in the electrical output and changes can be detected with
their measuring capabilities.
All the sensors are categorized on the basis of their uses, applications, material used on some
production technologies. Some sensors are classified also by their characteristics such as cost,
accuracy or range of sensor. There are two main types of sensors passive sensor and active
sensor. A passive sensor does not require any extra energy source and electric signal is produced
directly in reply to stimulus of external sources. This means that the sensors converts input
energy to output signal energy Example of passive sensors include photographic, thermal,
electrical field sensing, chemical, infrared and seismic.
The active sensors need external sources of energy for their response, known as excitation signal.
To produce the output signals, sensors adopt necessary changes to these input signals. The active
sensors are also known as parametric sensors due to their own properties which can be modified
in response to an exterior effect and these properties can be afterward changed into electric
signals. Active sensors have a variety of applications related to meteorology and observation of
the Earth’s surface and atmosphere. Below table shows differences between the passive and
active sensors.
Sensor characteristics

Passive sensor Active sensor

Does not require external power It requires power
It can only be used to detect energy when the Provides its own energy source for
naturally occurring energy is available illumination
no interference problem in the environment Less interference problem
Can operate in the same environment condition can operate in different environment
conditions
not well suited for darkness conditions Not sensitive works well in darkness
conditions
Difficulties in interpreting the output signals Easy to interpret
Less control of noise Better control of noise
Low price High price
Example : camera sensor Example: laser, Radar etc

Sensors are critical components that are deployed in number of devices for different applications
such as automotive, consumer electronics, and LOT devices, medical and industrial equipment.
With increased demand to automated products which can sense, feel and act accordingly has
given boost to sensor manufacturing industry. According to a recently published report on Indian
sensors market forecast and opportunities, 2018 the Indian sensors market is expected to grow at
14% CAGR till 2018. In the growth of sensors market India. Number of domestic and
international players is manufacturing sensors in India.

SENSOR MARKET IN INDIA

The proliferation in these of sensors within Indian market has encouraged both vendors and users
to invest significantly towards the growth of this market. According to a report released by
TechSci Research, titled “India sensors market forecast and opportunities,2020”,india will log a
CAGR of over 20% from 2015-2020. The report also hints out to remarkable growth for sensor
market soon. This growth will be direct outcome of rising automotive sales, increasing need for
automatization in industries, escalating security concerns, and ongoing technological
developments in consumer electronics.
Sensors are shaping business and lifestyles worldwide. These devices help to detect any change
in electrical, physical, or any other quantities, by producing an output which indicates user of the
change. The output is usually furnished in the form of an electrical or optical signal.
Within the market, the fastest growing segments include gas sensors, image sensors,
accelerometers, and position sensors. Automotive and consumer electronics industry are also
contributing significantly towards increasing demand of sensors. The growth in sensor market
can also be attributed growth of the industrial sector as a whole, and the introduction of Micro
electro mechanical systems (MEMS) sensors.

MARKET STUDY ON THE PROMINENT SENSOR SEGMENTS

The automotive sensor market in India spans wide variety of sensors within its extensive banner.
The market has been expected to grow at a CAGR of 11.64 percent over the period 2016-2021,
to establish itself as a staggering USD 1.51 billion market. Moreover, government is driving
efforts to push the growth of automotive sensors in all the vehicle segments of the Indian
automotive market. The sales of passenger vehicles have also shown a rapid growth in India,
with year to year sales growing by 8.45% till October 2015, which reflects upon the growth in
automotive sensors market.
The pressure sensors market isn’t far behind in this race, and has been estimated to reach USD
0.66 billion by 2022, growing at a CAGR of 8.66% over the period 2017-2022. This automotive
sector utilizes pressure sensors for various applications, such as TPMS and exhaust gas pressure
of EGR systems. This has resulted in increased demand for pressure sensors. The pressure
sensors market is dominated by piezoresistive and capacitive sensors. These types of sensors see
extensive use in automotive, medical, petrochemical, and oil & gas industries.
Similar growth has been noticed in case of medical sensors market as projected estimates state
will reach USD 15.01 billion by 2022, at a CAGR of 8.5% between 2016 and 2022. People are
increasingly adopting smart healthcare devices and wearable which has spurred the manufacture
of medical sensors.
