Transfer Goal: Students will be able to independently use their learning to discern things around them which are similar and how they can relate one to each
other, and appreciate how the concepts or characteristics of similar triangles help them deal with real-life problems.
Performance A surveyor finding how wide the river is,; finding the altitude of Mount Mayon; creating a miniature model of the Great Pyramid;
Task: drawing a scale floor plan for your room in your future house; these are some of the many things in the world around us that can be
defined by the concepts of similarity between triangles. Your task is to put yourself into one of these people who are using the concepts
of similar triangles to better understanding the world around us. In your group, you will pick a situation, create a word problem about it,
the role-play it in class together with the possible solutions and of course the best solution for your problem. Your chosen situation or
the problem that your created and the role-playing will be evaluated be evaluated by a select group of people based on content and
presentation.
Meaning Making: Students will understand that if triangles are similar the changes in their corresponding sides together with their perimeter and areas are
proportional; and the characteristics or concepts or different theorems related to similar triangles help one understand the world around
us.
