4. The following phrases are written on the board: adoptive family, blended family, extended family,
single-parent family and traditional family and discuss in pairs what they think these terms mean.
5. Pupils work individually to answer 8 statements (page 8) by deciding whether a child or a parent
should do the specified household chores.
6. Pupils discuss answers in pairs before discussing as a class.
7. Pupils move on to Activity 2 and 3 and discuss in pairs which of the chores in Activity 1 they do.

PRE-LESSON: (10 minutes)
1. Pupils are shown a picture and they have to list out what they see in the picture.

2. Pupils answer questions posed by the teacher.


3. Teacher explains that the focus of the lesson will now turn to speaking about a topi c, and that they need to guess the topic
(recycling).

LESSON DEVELOPMENT: (40 minutes)
1. Pupils divided into groups’ of 3 or4and ask them to brainstorm 5thingsor more which can be recycled.
2.Pupils are asked to suggest 3reasonsor more why recycling is a good idea (Cooperative Learning Structure)
3. Pupils will present the outcome of the discussion while writing the point in board.
POST-LESSON: (10 minutes)
1. Teacher asks the pupils to identify with their talk partners at least one new word or expression that they have learned in
relation to today’s topic. (Mini Whiteboard)
2. Teacher collects pupils’ answers as a whole class.
