Place: Madurai
Client: Mohmmed Yuhab
Legal concern: The client was falsely alleged under theft and the fact is that the client gave
lift to the complainant and his son and they said that while the client was riding bike he
snatched the chain Rs. 70,000 and they complained to the police and the police searched and
filed FIR on him.
Legal advice given: The senior Advocate S. Gopala Krishnan started to talk about that
incident and slowly getting information from client and said that the client can win the case
that there are no certain evidence and the person cannot easily snatch the chain while riding
bike and also the from the information obtained from the client, he has bipolar disorder and
the advocate said we can use this as that the person is unsound mind and the complainant are
falsely accusing the client to get money.
Observations: In my observation I found that some information or forgotten or not told to the
Senior advocate and the Advocate had his patience and started to ask questions that the client
will be able to remember and easily and slowly got the information, From this I understood
how important the communication between Advocate and client.

6. General Observations during Court Visits
I have observed that the District court of Madurai and High court of madras in Madurai that
court campus well organized and punctual and was very strict. Timings were strictly
followed by the judges and punctuality was mandatory for all the advocates. There are lots of
documents and paperwork required to draft for filing the case. And in High court I observed
the mandamus case filed in the counter, is where the staffs check the file, whether there are
mistakes, if not it will be filed and if there is, we need to redraft the document. Follow up of
lists and item number was done by the associates and interns. And the difference between
District and High court is that the Advocates presents himself from facts, but in High court
the facts are read by the judges and thus there are interpretation from the Judges. In court the
most I came across is divorce and MCOP and some civil and criminal cases and I also went
to mediation where my senior advocate is also a mediation member and I saw how the cases
are dealt with in mediation. Most of the advocates are not only concerned about their cases
but also concerned about other advocates case and how is the status of their case and are
aware of the all the important cases in the court. Then I came across many cases and also
learned how to conduct a client meeting without harming their believes.
7. Personal Experience
The Internship under S. Gopala Krishnan is very practical and was very fruitful for me. I
learned about the different areas of law like arbitration matter, MCOP cases and divorce
cases. In these internships I learned the difference about what we study in college and what
we do in the courts in practical manner. What we study is about the various acts and what we
study newly in the court is about filing and each types of cases are filed in different counter
and there are different types of court for different cases. I also understood that
communication was really important between client and the advocate, since it plays a role in
convincing of the client. Advocate also should explain the legal terms that client can
understand in a simple language and thus builds a development of strong professional
relationship with client is good communication skills is essential. I did observe that the role
and responsibility of the advocate is to make the client feel comfortable. I learned the ethics
of client counselling that we should not give false hopes to the client at the same time we
should not make the client felt desperate. I learned that each advocate has their own
professional ethics and some are stepping out of the boundary and most of them are true to
them, where the advocate should have the guts to say that if the case that is going to be filed
will not be able to win, he should directly say that to the client and should not misguide the
client for earning money.
