MODULE 1 - WEEK 1
LESSON 1 - THE TEACHER AS A PERSON IN THE SOCIETY
Critical Questions: Reflect and write your answer to the following questions.
As a future educator in the future and being ‘teacher in the making,’ there are so many
characteristics to be come an ideal teacher. Most of this are possessed by our educators,
teachers, profs, instructors and so on. But most of the time, educators may not have the ability
to have all of the abilities or characteristics. Hence, they are trying to at least to give their best
shots and full-filled their students with their owned and unique characteristics.
So, what are the personal characteristics of an ideal teacher? To become an ideal
teacher to our student we should have: patience, always prepared before going to classroom
and teach, have a sense of humor, respects toward to our students, forgiving and of course
admit our mistakes.
First, we should have patience. Being a teacher is not easy to become and to handle
every student we have, well all know that students have a lot of different characteristics, beliefs
and norms. And most of the time, we cannot deny but there are some of students that is hard
to control or understand. But as a teacher, we should have patience for us to slowly understand
them. Second, as a teacher we must be always prepared every time we are going inside the
classroom and teach. For us to become more effective, always prepared and efficient to our
students. Third, having sense of humor is also important. Why? Because, having sense of humor
is highly effective way to catch you students’ attention, you should be very vocal (to tell jokes,
make them laugh and gets their jokes) and not serious at all the time for our students cannot
get bored during our discussion time. Fourth, respecting our students is a way for you to be
respected back. As you may notice students have come in different religion, gender identity,
color, raise and beliefs. Now, as we are the head inside the classroom. We should respect what
they believe and what are they trying to point out. Lastly, forgiving and admit our mistakes. In
the end, we are all humans that do mistakes. Wanting our students’ forgiveness is not hard to
say, especially when we mistakes and vice-versa. Always remember, that in school as teacher
they see as a role-model for themselves.

2. What talents and skills do you have that can be shared or used when you become a full-
fledged teacher?
The talents and skills that I have are very productive/energetic, ready for challenges,
and very creative in my own way. Very productive/energetic in teaching is one of my way to get
the attention of my students. We we say very productive/energetic, inside of classroom I will
how lively and active I am while teaching them and it is a way fr them not get bored during our
discussion and activity time.
Furthermore, I think I can use this skills and talents to catch my students attention. And I
guess with this talents, I can surely win their attentions for them to be learned now lessons and
at the same time enjoy their-selves while I am teaching nor doing an activities inside the
classroom.
3. Think of a teacher whom you consider to be talented and skillful in his/her teaching. How
do his/her talents benefited his/her teaching.
A teacher that very close to me and have huge impact during both of my Junior and
Senior High School is non other than Sir Melvin C. Ramil. He seems very productive, very
knowledgeable person, have sense of humor, very good in teaching and I guess one of my
favourite teachers that I had meet in whole life. When I say very productive, he presents his
lesson with or without power-point. He good in both he knows what his doing during
discussion. Very knowledgeable person, he is very smart. When he talks, all his students listen
to him because of his unique teaching style and the way he speak. And he have sense of humor,
he mad us laugh every time we fell nervous and sad. All in all, all of his skill and talents brings
the attention of his students. And it helps him to teach his students more effectively, efficiently
and professionally.

Critical Questions: Reflect and rewrite your answers to the following questions.
Based on what I see and noticed, most of the teachers have a lot to do and a lot to
attend to. What I am trying to say is that, teachers have not enough time to rest, bond with
their family, attend to their personal and private doings, and so on. So, what I really want to
point out and high-light is that teachers should have or must have more time, teachers needs
time.
Yes, let us say that they choose that profession - this profession. They are obligated to
do what they normally do, to write lesson plans, to teach, check paper works, activities,
seminars, reports, accomplish school forms, and etc. We may not understand and see it yet, but
time will come and soon we will understand their hard works and dedication on their chosen
profession. Let me ask you, what do you think other professions (police, soldier, nurses,
doctors, engineer, architect etc.) do in times of their vacant or vacations? Of course they sleep,
bond with their family, do their personal and private doings, and so on. Right? Then how about
teachers? Even their weekends they still working, during holidays - they are working. In
addition, most of teachers choose or appointed to go other places, far from their home and far
from what they use to just to educate, share their learning and utter what they know. Meaning
to say, teacher must have more time as they full-filling their duties or obligation in school, they
must also full-fill their duties and obligations inside their homes, to their personal and private
stuffs.
Furthermore, I am not tolerating our teachers and educators to not focus on their
profession or to ignore their job. They should have balance and equal time in teaching and to
their home. Teachers needs time.
2. As a future teachers, what do you think is a best way that the government can do to meet
the needs of teachers?
The government - our government could help with setting up parenting classes to help
build better bridges between school, teachers, parents, and students. In addition, they should
also provide more material thing that will help to our educators to teach. After all, the school
districts are already providing social and economic services (counseling, social services, medical
referrals, etc.), so let’s add this piece early on and help build better students, schools, and
community. Moreover, government should at least raise their wages. And lastly, they should
also re-build and empower the laws that protect the right of the teachers

3. Do you believe that teachers treated unfairly compared to other profession? Why?
As far as I know and based on what I observed, teachers and other profession is
completely fair and equal. Why? Because, all o the profession have different kinds of duties,
responsibilities and obligations. They will not know what hard works and dedication they are
giving just to give their best shot in doing their chosen profession. It is not easy to say that
teachers were treated unfairly compared of other professions because each profession will
never ever know what each profession do. Also, teachers have a lot of supports coming from
our government from counseling, social services, medical referrals, government also provide
scholarship for the teachers that studying to raise their position. All in all, I do not see unequal
and unfair treatment of the government to ou dear educators.
