The Relationship of Student Allowance An

The document discusses a study that investigated the relationship between student allowance and academic performance among grade 11 students in Lungsodaan National High School. Specifically, it aimed to determine the profile of students' daily allowance and academic performance, and examine if there is a significant relationship between allowance and performance. A sample of 15 students was used. Statistical analysis found a moderate positive correlation between allowance and grades. Therefore, the null hypothesis of no significant relationship was rejected, indicating student allowance has an impact on their academic performance.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The prime object of the study was to determine if there is a relationship in the allowance of students on their
academic performance of selected grade-11 students in LNHS Hinundayan , Southern Leyte SY-2016-2017.

Specifically this study answered the following questions:

1. What is the profile of students daily allowance in academic performance?

2. Is there a significant relationship between the students allowance on their academic performance?

HYPOTHESIS

HO: There is no significant relationship between the students allowance to their academic performance.

HA: There is significant relationship between the student allowance to their academic performance.

SCOPE OF DELIMITATION

The study was conducted at Lungsodaan National High School in the school year 2016-2017. The selective
students of grade 11- Quezon that had bigger allowance that got higher grade in their academic performance
or those students had a lesser allowance got a lower grade in their academic performance. The students of
grade 11- Quezon total of 52 students, the researcher select only 15 sample out of 52 students or population.
The researcher gather some information from the adviser of grade 11-Quezon. The researchers asked the
average grade of those selected students. Generally the study focused only. If there is significance relationship
between the students allowance and their academic performance in the school.

RESEARCH DESIGN

The descriptive correlation method was employed in this study in determining if there is significance
relationship between the students allowance on their academic performance. In the students of Lungsodaan
National High School.

SAMPLING SIZE AND SAMPLING DESIGN

Sample were determined using purposive sampling method. Among the selected grade 11- Quezon student,
was chosen to be the sample. Furthermore only 15 students were included using simple random sampling
technique.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT

The main instrument the researcher used was interview and ask some questions to the persons we selected
students on their adviser. And asked those selected students of grade 11- Quezon. If how much is their
allowance everyday from Monday to Friday.

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

The researcher asked questions from the school principal of the Lungsodaan National High School once the
permission was granted the researcher ask the adviser of some of the grades of the selected students and ask
those selected students if how much is their everyday allowance in school.

STATISTICAL TREATMENTS

The following statistical tools were used in treating the data gathered.

1. Mean where: x̅ =mean,

X̅ =
∑ fx ∑/ x = summation of raw scores, and
N
N= the number of cases.
2. In testing the significant relationship between variables, the spearman rho formula was used.
6∑D ²
rs=1-
N ³−N
Where: rs= spearman who,
∑D²= summation of squared differences and
n= number of respondents.

ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

The presentation of data was base on the certain problems had been considered in this study which are the
following.

1. Profile of the grade 11 students in their everyday allowance and academic performance or average
grades.
2. Relationship between the students allowance on their academic performance.

the students had daily allowance.

Table 2 showed the profile of the grade 11 students on their academic performance in LNHS, Hinundayan
Southern Leyte. It was based on their first quarter grade of school year 2016-2017. Out of 15 grade 11
students I were outstanding level with grade between 90-95, 4 students very satisfactory level with grades
between 85-89. 8 were satisfactory level with grades between 80-84, 2 were in fairly satisfactory level with
grades between 75-79. The mean rating of their academic performance was 83.33 with a descriptive rating of
satisfactory.

and their academic performance. As shown on the table x represented their average grades in last semester.
There was law correlation (rs=0.34) between the

FINDINGS

The analysis of the data gathered through various tools revealed the following findings.

1. Profile of the grade 11 students in their everyday allowance most of them had 20 pesos in their
everyday allowance.
2. The profile of students academic performance was satisfactory with the mean rating 83.33.
3. There was significant relationship between the everyday allowances of students on their academic
performance. The sum of the ranks of x was 345. And the sum of ranks of y was greater than the
tabular value [cv(1.30>tv(0.475)] then null hypothesis was accepted at 5% level of significance.

CONCLUSION.

Base on the results of the data gathered the researcher included that

1. The academic performance of the selected grade 11-Quezon students was base on their everyday
allowance. There was significant relationship between students everyday allowance and their
academic performance.
