Stiffness Method

1) To develop the general truss equation matrix (K), the member stiffness matrix (K') is calculated for each element and assembled into the global matrix. 2) The displacement transformation matrix (T) relates the local member displacements (d) to the global node displacements (D). 3) The force transformation matrix (TT) is used to relate the local member forces (Q) to the global nodal forces (F). Together, these matrices can be used to solve for displacements and forces using the global stiffness method for trusses.
