Exercises 2

Analyzing Moral Virtues

There are four moral virtues. They are called moral virtues because they lead us to live good moral lives.

☺ Prudence helps us to make judgment on what we should do or not do in particular circumstances of our
everyday life.
☺ Justice helps us to give everyone what belongs to him and not to take what does not belong to us.
☺ Fortitude is an extra effort to do right thing even if it is hard or difficult.
☺ Temperance helps us to control our desires and use properly all things, which please our senses.

1. Which among the four virtues do you need more to develop in your life? Why?

2. Do you recall any word of wisdom (or “words to live by”) that came from your grandparents or parents? What is it?

3. Explain the statement: God will not let you be tested beyond your strength. Along with the test he will give you the
way out of it so that you may be able to endure it.

4. Evaluate the dictum: The man of true courage is also a humble man of prayer.
