Take Me System – Master Unit English
ATTENTION: To reduce the risk of
electric shock, do not remove cover.
Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.
Disconnect the mains supply before connecting
or disconnecting the links to the battery.
The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of important operating and
maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the equipment.
ZIVAN S.r.l. will be not responsible for inaccuracies contained in this manual due to print or translation errors. ZIVAN S.r.l. has the right to
make changes or improvements, also for the user interest, without prejudicing the essential characteristic of operation and safety.
LED Indicator
Take Me Master Unit is provided with a LED Indicator on top of the plastic cover. This LED should be normally turned on red when the unit is
connected to the mains.

English Take Me System – Master Unit
• Connect the connector “TAKE-ME” of the first cable to the TAKE-ME control unit.
• Connect the connector “TAKE-ME” of the second cable to the “CB10” connector of the first one.
• Connect the last charger of the room network to the connector “CB10” of the second cable by removing the gender changer
• Connect all other charges to connectors “CB1-CB9” of both cables and/or to EXT connector of the second cable. It is not
necessary that all connector have to be used.
• Connector EXT of the first cable is reserved for diagnostic.
Remember that the battery chargers needs to have Take Me option enabled to work properly, and that they have to be initialized with a can
node included in the 11-30 range. Obviously, all the charger nodes need to be different from each other. For further details, check the
manual of your chargers.
Finally, the Master Unit can be connected to an external device, like a remote alarm, through the auxiliary output. See the Auxiliary Contacts
paragraph below.
To achieve maximum performance from your Master Unit, it is strongly suggested to connect the Unit to an UPS (Uninterruptible Power
Supply).
By drawing the correct battery, the drawing queue will be shifted down. Any charger that completes a charge will be placed on top of the
queue.
By drawing a battery which is not the one indicated by the Master Unit, the system will enter an alarm state (wrong battery drawing). This
means that, for 60 seconds, the buzzer of both the charger and the Master Unit will beep. Additionally, the Master Unit enables the Auxiliary
Output.
The Take Me System has been designed in order to be user-fault-tolerant. For this reason, if the wrongly taken battery is reconnected within
the 60 seconds limit, the alarm condition is cleared: the charger will resume the charge from the point it was interrupted and the Master Unit
will insert the charger node in the position it was occupying before the alarm, like shown in the image below. In this case, the system
completely recovers from the fault, just like it never happened.

Node 12: Battery disconnected Batt. connected
Queque: Example 2:
A battery is taken from node 12
… … … instead of node 11. User reconnects
NODE 15 ... NODE 15 the battery within 60 second.
NODE 14 NODE 15 NODE 14
NODE 13 NODE 14 NODE 13
NODE 12 NODE 13 NODE 12
NODE 11 NODE 11 NODE 11
60 seconds after the beginning of the alarm, the alarm automatically clears by itself: this means that when the battery will be reconnected it
won’t be re-inserted in its original position of the queue, as shown in Example 3; the battery charger will start a new charge from the
beginning and when the battery will be ready it will be placed on top of the queue.
Queque:
Example 3:
… … … …
A battery is taken from node 12
NODE 15 ... ... NODE 12 instead of node 11. User reconnects
NODE 14 NODE 15 NODE 15 NODE 15 the battery after a long time
NODE 13 NODE 14 NODE 14 NODE 14
NODE 12 NODE 13 NODE 13 NODE 13
NODE 11 NODE 11 NODE 11 NODE 11
Queue: Example 4:
Two batteries are taken,
… … … … but the first drawing is
NODE 15 ... ... ... wrong.
NODE 14 NODE 15 ... NODE 15
NODE 13 NODE 14 NODE 15 NODE 14
NODE 12 NODE 13 NODE 14 NODE 13
NODE 11 NODE 11 NODE 13 NODE 12
Situations like these may occur when several operators are working in the same charging room: in this case, the reconnection of the wrongly
taken battery (node 12) will make the Master Unit insert that node in the correct place (before node 13) even though the queue has changed
in the meanwhile. Obviously, if the battery would have been reconnected after the 60 seconds limit, the alarm situation would have already
ceased and the battery would have been put in the last position of the queue.
Lastly, let’s consider a situation where two batteries are taken, and both drawings are wrong (both reconnection are within the 60 seconds
limit).
In this case, Master Unit will insert back to the correct position only the last wrongly taken battery. Please note that even though node 12 is
placed last after the reconnection, that charger will resume the charge from the point it was interrupt since the reconnection has taken place
within the 60 seconds limit.

Connecting to the Master Unit – Advanced Settings
As with other Zivan products, it is possible for the user to connect to the Master Unit with Zivan CanConsole. The connection requires using
an USB-to-CAN interface. Supported interface vendors are IXXAT, IFAK, PEAK.
To connect to the Master Unit, follow the standard procedure described in your CanConsole Manual, using Standard Protocol at 125 kbps.
The default node for the Master Unit is 10. This parameter is fixed and cannot be changed by user.
Once connected, the Parameter Menu will give you the access to the following parameters (Adjustments menu):
Connection timeout: the Master Unit continuously checks the incoming messages from the battery chargers. If the Master Unit
does not receive any message from a given charger for a certain period of time, this charger will be removed from the drawing
queue. The connection timeout parameter determines the values of this period of time; default value is 30 seconds. Please
remember that, in case of a troublesome connection, the battery charger will show the alarm A02 and its BIG LED will light up
according to its original specification, just like the Take Me System option wasn’t enabled.
Alarm filter: when a battery charger goes into an alarm state, the Master Unit will remove that node from the drawing queue.
This action can potentially trigger the Wrong Battery Drawing alarm (when the charger being removed is not the first in the
queue). If the alarm is triggered, the Master Unit will beep the buzzer and control the Auxiliary Output, which in its turn may be
connected to an external alarm. By turning the Alarm Filter parameter to ON (default value is OFF) the user can decide to allow
the Master Unit to remove any charger in alarm from the queue but not to trigger the Wrong Battery Drawing alarm in the
Master Unit.

The Auxiliary Output provides a Normally Closed (NC) and a Normally Open (NO) contact to connect external devices to the Master Unit.
Since the Auxiliary Output is controlled only during the Wrong Battery Drawing alarm (NC opens and NO closes), it is suggested to connect a
remote alarm, which can be placed separately from the charging room.
