I also give thanks to Ma’am Leah for her efforts and guidance that lead to our

improvement during the time of WORK IMMERSION.

INTRODUCTION

Work Immersion is one of the requirements to graduate Senior High school in

FDRMS. It helps us to improve our skills and experience through working so we

can apply it to our future Job when we graduate College.

The Work Immersion component of the K to 12 Basic Education Program aims to

provide Senior High School (SHS) students with opportunities to become familiar

with the workplace for employment simulation and to apply their competence in

areas of specialization in authentic work environments.

“Work immersion” is a key feature in the DHA curriculum which involves hands-

on experience or work simulation in which students can apply their competencies

and acquired knowledge relevant to their track. It consists of 80 hours of hands- on

working experience. Through Work Immersion, the students are exposed to and

become familiar with work-related environment related to their field of

specialization to enhance their competence.

Work immersion will help develop among the learner life and career skills and will

prepare them to make decisions on postsecondary education or employment.

Through partnership building, DepEd hopes that the Partner Institutions will

provide learners with work Immersion opportunities, workplace or hands-on

experience, and additional learning resources.

6
The importance of Work Immersion is to enhance cognitive skills: immersion

students typically develop greater cognitive flexibility, demonstrating increased

attention control, better memory and superior problem solving. 723, S. 2022 –

Reiteration of the Guidelines for Work Immersion Implementation during Crisis

Situation - Department of Education

OBJECTIVES OF WORK IMMERSION

Students are dispersed across various businesses, offices and laboratories for their

work experience/real employment. Through their collaboration with the company,

7
they are supposed to support the students' work-based learning by providing them

with opportunities to perform real jobs and gain new knowledge to prepare the

students.

1. Immersion students typically develop greater cognitive flexibility.

2. Demonstrating increased attention control, better memory, and superior

problem solving.

3. Enhance knowledge skills and good communication habits

4. Important part of Work Immersion is to learn to adapt in a new environment

and to gain experience for future jobs

Work immersion aims to better equip senior high school students for their future

and gives the chance to put what they have learned about their specialization into

practice for their improvement and development of skill and to increase their

knowledge for the preparation of employment in proceeding in the higher

education.

VALUES AND ATTRIBUTES OF A STUDENT IN WORK IMMERSION

Possessing work-related skills and values is crucial for students who must immerse

themselves in the workplace. This will allow you to practice and internalize

8
working under real-world conditions in your chosen profession. Some of the most

important values and qualities you should exhibit are Professionalism - School can

teach you how to operate professionally by giving you the abilities you need in a

particular job, but immersion in the workplace, real-life events, and stress will give

a student more experience. Even though the firm might not have high expectations

for you, you still need to act professionally. You could learn this through adjusting

to the company's workplace culture and the job priorities of your direct supervisors

and senior executives. Being prompt means that students who participate in work

immersion are expected to be on time or even early. It fosters a sense of

accountability and complete acceptance of the task at hand. Contrarily, those that

arrive late could find themselves treated less favorably because they eventually

slow down work productivity and processes. After the job immersion, being

punctual is highly commended and given particular honor. • Accuracy - this refers

to the use of knowledge gained in the classroom. It is vital for students to

understand these adjustments and variations because the procedures used in

workplaces may differ from those taught in the classroom. In the students to

acquire and develop the skills of teamwork, communication, attendance and

punctuality, productivity and resilience, initiative and proactivity, judgment and

decision making, dependability and reliability, attitude, and professionalism.

COMPANY PROFILE

MUNICIPALITY OF ANGAT

It is believed that Angat got its name from the Tagalog word “Angat” which
means an elevated piece of land or a community living in prominence during the
Spanish era.

9
History related that Angat was a tributary to the town of Quingua (now
Plaridel). This can be shown by the fact that Angat River links to the town of
Quingua. After being a tributary of Quingua, it became a part of San Miguel. In
1776, it was made a part of Bocaue when the administration of Sta. Maria de Pandi
estate was placed under the Dominican Friars. This transfer was made possible
through the efforts of the Dominicans who owned most of the fertile lands in the
place.

When the Spaniards came to the town it brought a different way of life to the
whole community. The people were made to embrace the catholic faith by force
rather than by conviction. And the inhabitants were subjected to forced labor
particularly in the construction of the church and the Presidencia.

Until today, there were remaining Spanish houses that can still be found in the
municipality. The Catholic church of the municipality bears engraved roman
numerals “MBCXII” which, according to the old people was the year when Angat
was converted into a regular municipality.

This challenge has a great impact on my performance as an ABM student because I

OUR LAST DAY OF THE IMMERSION

REFLECTION

For 10 days of doing Work Immersion, I could say that I learned and enjoyed a lot.

I am privileged to have such a good chance to work in Public Market Office with

good and very accommodating employees. I am glad that I worked with my good

19
partner Francis Robert T. Soyosa where we had a good bonding and teamed up

during our work immersion. Since it was my first time to work, I experienced lots

of emotions like being excited to go to work, eagerness to learn more, exciting

feeling to face new work challenges and being happy to work with my colleagues.

And I knew that it’s not easy to be a stall owner. You must go through a process.

And on the other side, the employee should have patience and perseverance in

dealing with the stall owners to avoid conflicts and misunderstanding. I learned to

encode Monthly Billing and OR in the computer and this challenge has a great

impact in my performance as an ABM student because I can apply this experience

in college and for my future. I learned a lot in the department of Market Office

because all the employees, especially ma'am Goldy and Sir Edward taught us how

to encode. I thank them because of what they did to us with my partner. It is not

hard to work with them because they are very accommodating to us. I am happy

that I learned how to interact or socialize with the Market Office Employees.

SUMMARY OF WORK IMMERSION

us better opportunities and wider knowledge about the future courses that we will

take in our college days. It gives us advantage to apply it to our future Job when

we graduate College. It consists of 80 hours of hands-on working experience.

Through Work Immersion, we can gain experience of professionalism for future
