Reading Comprehension: True/False

Mark each statement as T (true) or F (false) according to the information in the reading passage.

Read this passage carefully and answer the questions that follow.

"Marwencol" is a documentary about a man named Mark Hogancamp. Mark was attacked and
beaten up so badly that he suffered memory loss and brain damage, but he didn't have money for
therapy so he began building a miniature World War II era town he calls Marwencol. He used
the creation of figures – using people from his life as inspiration – and models to rehabilitate his
physical problems, and acted out different stories and scenarios as a form of therapy. He also
began taking photos of the town, which were later published in a magazine and displayed in a
New York gallery. “Marwencol” is a completely unique and absorbing movie that manages to
tell Mark's story in a sensitive and engaging way. This film is a touching and intimate look at a
man's journey toward recovery, and the stories from within the town are a compelling look inside
Mark's mind.

Read this passage carefully and answer the questions that follow.

Recreation is essential to human life. From the day we are born, we have a natural urge to play
because playing is as essential to learning as organized education is. There is value in recreation
from both an evolutionary standpoint and a mental one. Playing with friends at young ages helps
keep kids in good physical health and also helps develop social skills necessary for succeeding in
life. As we get older and become more fully developed people, recreation becomes a necessity in
order to preserve mental health.

Providing for oneself or for a family requires a lot of hard work and brings intense emotional
pressure. Without recreation to take our minds off of the less enjoyable aspects of daily life, we
are susceptible to high stress, which can lead to poor physical health. Though we don't need the
same kind of playtime that we did when we were children, we do need hobbies and recreational
activities to keep us healthy mentally, emotionally and physically.

6. The author of the article thinks that recreation is not important for adults.
A) True
B) False

7. Recreation is important for children to develop health and social skills.

A) True
B) False
