DIAG ITEM DESCRIPTION

7, 19 2.6.1 ENGINE OIL MONITORING

WARNING: TO REMOVE THE OIL TANK CAP, YOU MUST WAIT A MINIMUM OF 5
MINUTES AFTER ENGINE SHUT-DOWN TO LET OIL SYSTEM AIR PRESSURE BLEED OFF.
Note:
Oil should be added not less than 5 minutes and not more than 30 minutes after engine
shutdown while the oil in the tank is still warm. This will prevent the over-servicing of the
engine.
If the oil in the tank is cool or cold, the oil density will increase (volume decreases) and the
oil tank can be over-serviced.
If the oil tank is over-serviced, this will not damage the engine. The extra oil will be blown
overboard through the engine vent system.
The quantity of oil can cause incorrect calculations for the consumption rate.

FOR NON EDTO AIRCRAFT

Check pop out indicator on the electrical master chip detector (EMCD)
● Check engine oil level on the tank sight glass.
● If oil level is below full mark, add engine oil by pouring into oil tank fill port up to
full mark. (Reference: AMM 12-13-79)
● Record engine oil uplift in JML or annotate nil/zero if no uplift is required.

Note: If both engines require oil uplift, apply critical task certifications.

2.6.2 FOR EDTO AIRCRAFT

Check pop out indicator on the electrical master chip detector (EMCD)
a. Top up the oil until the oil level reaches the filler neck.
b. Prior to dispatch of aircraft for the next flight, calculate the oil consumption rate if
more than an approximation of 0.5 quart for CFM56-5B or 0.32 quart for LEAP-1A
of oil is uplifted as per the following equation:

Engine Oil Total Oil Quantity Uplifted

consumption for =
previous flight Sector time (Hour) since last uplift

c. If the oil consumption exceeds 0.6 quart per hour for CFM56-5B and 0.35
quart per hour for LEAP-1A, perform the following:
i. Raise NTC effective for 2 days for monitoring, to identify oil consumption
exceeding the limit.
ii. If the oil consumption rate is below the limit within 2 days, no maintenance
action is required.
iii. For CFM56-5B, if the oil consumption rate within 2 days maintain at or over
0.6 quart per hour, perform TSM task 79-00-00-810-818 for Engine 1 or TSM
task 79-00-00-810-819 for Engine 2.
iv. For LEAP-1A, if the oil consumption rate within 2 days maintain at or over
0.35 quart per hour, perform TSM task 79-00-00-810-842.

DIAG ITEM DESCRIPTION

d. If the oil consumption exceeds 0.9 quart per hour for CFM56-5B or 0.45
quart per hour for LEAP-1A:
i. Perform TSM task 79-00-00-810-818 for Engine 1 or TSM task
79-00-00-810-819 for Engine 2 before dispatch of flight (CFM56-5B).
ii. Perform TSM task 79-00-00-810-842 before dispatch of flight (LEAP-1A).
e. Record engine oil uplift in JML or annotate nil/zero if no uplift is required.
Notify MOC and TSE KUL of the high oil consumption rate exceeding the limit.
Note:
● If both engines require oil uplift, apply critical task certifications.
● Please convert Hrs to Decimal before oil consumption calculation.
E.g. 5hr:30min = 5.5 hrs

7, 8 2.7 RIGHT/LEFT POWER PLANT AND PYLON

and Do a general visual inspection of the power plant and pylon from ground as far as visible,
19, 20 including (cowl doors closed):
● Pylon with fairings and fillets: No damage,
● Engine air inlet: Lip skin, riveting, acoustic panels, and visible probes and sensors
(T12),
