Case Study of Tinker Training Program in 2 Schools

The document describes a case study of a tinkering training program in two schools. The program involved modules in Scratch, Arduino, mobile app development, robotics, and 3D printing. Students in both schools engaged in hands-on projects in each module over multiple sessions. Outcomes included students creating animated stories, games, mobile apps, robots, and 3D designs. The program aimed to develop students' scientific temper and skills in problem solving, computer programming, and creativity.

Case study of Tinker Training Program in 2 schools

Trainers from STEM learning explained about the tinkering lab to the students and teachers of
BBMP Girls PU Composite College (High School) and BBMP Public High School, RT Nagara
respectively so as to develop scientific temper among them.

School Name Strength Session Plan

BBMP Girls PU Composite 80 students, 2 teachers, H. M 5 modules. (2 sessions

College (High School) per Day and 2 Days
per week)

BBMP Public High School, RT 70 students, 3 teachers, H.M, 5 modules. (2

Nagara. SAP & NASSCOM volunteers sessions per Day and
3 Days per week)

Modules:
1. Scratch
2. Arduino
3. Mobile app inventor
4. Robotics
5. 3D printing
Outcome
➢ Students had created Animated
Stories and Games by developed their
Skills in this SCRATCH
Program such as:

• Apple Game
• Car race
• Maze game
• Conversation between to Person
• Differentiations about their
lessons like different between
plant cell and animal cell in
animated.

➢ Students learned about basic Arduino programming. They did simple Arduino experiments
like LED blinking, multiple LED, Buzz button, Serial monitor. Students & teachers are trained
about Arduino Various Development Boards, Basic Sensors, Motors, Modules, etc.
Students have completed some
experiments and Projects using
Arduino such as:

• Measurement of Room
temperature
• Using Ultrasonic Sensor
measures the distance of
object
• Blind Stick
• Servo motor
• Music player (Recording,
playing in a small bite)
• Smart Dustbin
• Using mobile control the LED’s
with help of Bluetooth module
& So on

➢ Students & Teachers were trained to create mobile apps. They are very happy to know how
to create the mobile apps. Students & Teachers Created Basic Apps such as:

• Text to Speech Recognition

• Camera interface
• Quiz related apps
• Gyroscope Detected app
• Using Mobile app inventor, they created an Arduino app to control the Robotic Car

➢ In robotics, Students made their own robots such as:

• Bluetooth Robotic Car

• Obstacle Avoidance Car
• Voice controller Car and so on
This developed their Problem-Solving Skills and Creativity, Improved Computer Programming
Skills. Using these kinds of projects they participated in some competition and Hackathon.

Robotics programs in education is gaining popularity since it allows children to have fun
while they develop numerous STEM skills.

➢ Students also created their own 3D Designs in tinker Cad Software by learning 3D printing.
