Oblique projection is an alternative to isometric projection where one face of the object is drawn in its true shape rather than foreshortened. There are two types: cabinet, where the sides are drawn at 45 degrees and lengths halved to appear correct, and cavalier, where the entire object is drawn at its true size with sides angled at 45, 30, or 60 degrees. Oblique Projection

What is Oblique Projection?


Oblique Projection is an alternative pictorial projection to Isometric Projection. The main
differences’ being that one face of the object (front) is drawn to its true shape. The receding
(oblique) lines may be drawn at any of these angle such as 45, 30 or 60 also the set- squares
angles are usually used to construct any of these objects.

Difference between the two methods


Cabinet

Cabinet oblique projection shows the true shape of the front of the object. The sides are angled

at 45◦ and the lengths are halved to make the proportions of the drawing look correct.

Cavalier

Cavalier oblique projection shows the true shape of the entire object in full size. The sides are

angled at 45◦, 30◦ and 60◦.

ASSIGNMENT
Instruction: Complete the following drawings below. You are required to draw the Oblique
blocks then draw from Oblique Projection to Orthographic Projection. Hence, the drawing must
be done in First or Third angle projection, showing three views, Plan, Front and the left End
elevation.
