Smoke Test
Smoke Test
II. Applications
Recommended to test the functional ability of commercial or residential smoke detectors.
VII. Directions
• Shake can well. Hold can 2-4 feet below smoke detector and spray for 2-3 seconds.
• If alarm does not sound within 5 seconds, repeat the process. Some detectors have a built-in delay to
reduce false alarms.
• If unit still fails to sound, immediately inspect unit for malfunction, debris, or dead batteries.
• To silence activated alarm quickly, fan air through the detector’s vents.
• Do not over-spray. Over-spraying may reduce sensitivity until product fully evaporates.
• For detectors connected to sprinklers, halon systems or central monitoring systems, be sure unit is in
the test mode before testing with Smoke Test® brand Smoke Detector Tester.
