Welcome to the Physical Education and Health 10 Project CAP-LRE Alternative Delivery
Mode (ADM) Module on

This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators both from
public and private institutions to assist you, the teacher or facilitator, in helping the learners
meet the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their personal, social, and
economic constraints in schooling.

This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent learning
activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also aims to help learners acquire the
needed 21st century skills while taking into consideration their needs and circumstances.

Active Recreation Sports

Hello Grade 10 Students!

Nowadays, students like you and mostly teenagers are very much
engaged in different online and computer games which lead you not to move
and stretch your body in different physical activities. Most of the students-even
elementary grader- know how to operate cellular phones, laptop and other
electronic devices but having a hard time to join physical activities such as
jogging, exercising or even joining various sports.
It will lead to many serious health problems both mentally and physically.
It’s time for you to change.
Welcome to the part where you will learn many things. You will be
provided with the activities that will test your prior knowledge, stimulate your
interest and elevate your understanding and level of excitement in the different
activities. This part of the self-learning module will help you get started and be
mentally ready for the next part.

LIFESTYLE…..

Your lifestyle is utmost important. Everything you do, whether good or bad, has an
effect on your health. Your lifestyle involves a lot of aspects like the physical activities you
engaged in, the food you eat, the daily habits you observe, the choices you make as a student
and many more. These different aspects of your lifestyle affect your overall health. Therefore,
it is a must that you give attention to these factors to become a healthier individual.

Your lifestyle includes the nutrition practices you observe. Risk factors to our health
includes things that we do in our everyday lives and the physiological characteristics that we
inherit from our parents. They should be taken seriously. Being aware of these factors as well
as doing something to prevent and counteract their effects are important. Engaging in an
active recreational activity is highly promoted as a mean of promoting a healthy lifestyle.

This includes the typical patterns of individual behavior like everyday routine at home,
in school at work, eating, sleeping, and exercise habits and many others. It is very important
to be mindful of your food intake and physical activities because these greatly affect overall
health. Your food intake and physical activity affect your weight, which consequently affect
your BMI.

FYI : FOR YOUR INFORMATION:
LIFESTYLE – means the way of life of an individual, group or culture. It is
associated with reflecting or promoting an enhanced or desirable lifestyle.
Your lifestyle includes the nutrition practices you observe. Risk factors to our health
include the things that we do in our everyday lives and the physiological characteristics
that we inherit from our parents. They must be taken seriously. Being aware of these
factors as well as doing something to prevent and counteract their effects are important.
Engaging in active recreational activities is highly promoted as means of promoting a
healthy lifestyle
RECREATION ACTIVITIES – activities done during one’s leisure time both for
relaxation and enjoyment
RISKS FACTORS – variables in lifestyle and genetics that may lead to certain
diseases; it include age, gender, nutrition, body weight, physical activity and health habits;
example unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, exposure to tobacco smoke or effects of
harmful use of alcohol.
WARM UP – preliminary activity done to prepare the body for actual physical
activity; can be general or sports-specific.
WEIGHT GAIN – energy consumed is greater than energy expended. (more food
intake but less physical exertion)
WEIGHT LOSS – energy consumed is less than energy expended (more physical
exertion but less food intake)
WEIGHT MAINTENANCE – energy consumed equals energy expended (physical
exertion is the same with food intake)
LIFESTYLE - includes the typical patterns of individual behavior like everyday
routine at home, in school, or at work, like eating, sleeping, and exercise habits and many
others. Teenagers like you may have practices or habits at home in school that either
elevate
. or reduce health risks. Genetics or heredity, age and physical activities are some
factors that cannot be changed. Other variables can be modified to achieve healthier life.
This may include nutrition, body weight, physical activity and health habits.
HEALTHY – means enjoying good health or not displaying clinical signs of disease
or infection. Beneficial to one’s physical, mental, or emotional state; conducive or
associated with good heath or reduced risk of disease. Showing physical, mental or
emotional well-being.
UNHEALTHY – means not conducive to health or not healthful. An unhealthy
lifestyle brings with certain disease that can shorten your lifespan. These diseases known
as NCDs.

Moderate amounts of physical activity are recommended daily. A total activity can be
accumulated in multiple short bouts. Choose recreational activities that you find enjoyable and
fits into your daily routine. Your participation in these activities could easily be sustained since
you personally enjoy doing them and you even do it in your own time. Regular physical activity,
regardless of how hard it is, make you healthier and can help you protect from many chronic
diseases. However, exercising at low levels of exertion does little to improve physical fitness.
It is recommended that you exert more than your usual effort.
