I. INTRODUCTION

Filipinos usually eat in-between snacks or commonly known

as “merienda”. Most of this meriendas are sweet baked goods.

Bread is most likely the next staple food to Filipinos.

Currently, there is a famous food that is typically loved by

Filipinos, bread. Nutritional facts are now highly considered in

choosing foods to ensure nutritious benefits. When Filipinos

think of bread, they think of jam. It is something that gives

joy and excitement of eating bread. It tickles the tongue of

anyone who eats it. Even after its sweet flavor still lingers on

anyone who tastes it. Jam is a thick mixture of fruit, pectin,

and sugar that is boiled gently but quickly until the fruit is

soft and has an organic shape, yet is still thick enough that it

spreads easily and can form a blob. In addition to being a

spread, jams are also good for fillings.


II. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Kamias is the Filipino name for a tree scientifically known

as Averrhoabilimbi. In English, it is known as the cucumber or

sorrel tree. Kamias is notes widely known as other tropical

fruits, but it is gaining recognition in many countries. To

Asian countries and islands, especially in the Philippines, its

nutritional and medicinal value is common knowledge. The sour

fruit is natural source of vitamins B and C, iron, phosphorus

and antioxidants. The kamias fruit, also called bilimbi, has

close relations to the balimbing or star fruit.

The fruit is very crunchy when unripe and it turns from

bright-green to yellowish-green, when it is ripe. Once it got

ripe it falls on the ground. The outer skin is shiny, very thin

and gentle, and the flesh will be greenish-white in color which

will be very juicy and extremely sour. It has a few flattened

seeds which is brown in color. It has a sour flavor that many

use as a cooking agent. Even if you have never cooked with

kamias before, it is likely you’ve tasted it in different foods.

Many juice the fruit to add to lemonades and even wine. The

flesh of the fruit can also be mixed into seafood sauces and

dips because of its sour taste. The researcher used Kamias as

the main ingredient of her study because of its health benefits.


Also the affordability of the product which the customers can

spend a little amount of money to satisfy their wants.

Especially to customers who want to try a unique product. The

reasons drove the researcher on studying the acceptability of

producing Kamias Jam in the market.


III. PRODUCT

“Kamias Jam”

Step By Step Making Process:

1. Wash the Kamias.


2. Cut both ends.

3. Slice into thin pieces.

4. Soak for 1 hour.


5. Wash it 3 times.

6. Measure the kamias. 1:1 for the sugar and the kamias.

7. Open the stove and place your saucepan.


8. Add the sugar.

9. Stir the mixture.

10. Cooldown the mixture before storing.


IV. RATIONALE

This study can be beneficial to the consumers knowing that

Kamias is a natural source of vitamins B and C, iron, phosphorus

and antioxidants and the richness of sugar in jam is a great

source of Energy and fiber.

This could be a tool for entrepreneur to know how to create

their new product in the future. This study can also widen their

knowledge particularly in setting up similar business.

USABILITY

It was a great source of vitamins and minerals because it is

packed with many nutrients. It was an enjoyable treat, dessert

or delight. It can be use as personal dessert, merienda or treat

and it can also be a source of income if you cook and sell it

for business purpose.


UNIQUENESS

Most of the jams are made from sugar and flavored synthetic

ingredients that can be harmful in our health in the long run

but our jams are delicious and tasty with a twist of sour and

sweet flavor. Some of jams are loaded with lots of sugar and

chemical base ingredients that meanwhile side effects will be

distinguished unlike the kamias jam that gives benefit in our

body while having fun and enjoyment for its delicious taste.

Demographic: Age: 6yrs. to 12 years’ old

Sex: Male and Female

Knowledge/ Skills about the product (Do you have a skills or

knowledge to product the product)

In that case we have the skill, knowledge and ability to do

the product because before we decide to make this product the

first thing that we need is we observed and think the product


that we can sell in affordable price. Before that we make our

own product which is the Jam and added some twists also this is

not a typical Jams that we know because this jam is made from

kamias. Also everything can be learned and put into mastery if

you give your heart and devotion on it. Most of all, the

ingredients are natural and very convenient to find and produce.

V. Feasibility of production

Nowadays people would pick a fake made food item that

has a less sound sustenance content over the ordinary food

varieties that has is offered to be "useful for our wellbeing"

that is accessible on the lookout. Advancing a sound and

advantageous method of finishing by presenting assortments of

Kamias Jam to the public clients would likewise profit not

simply the customers with its nutritious substance it

additionally encourages the Filipinos to the cultivating

business in our nation also. In addition, all the ingredients

are very easy to find since it was all natural and cheap.
