Encanto (Musical Play)

The song summarizes the mysterious Tio Bruno in the Madrigal family. Several family members recount unsettling prophecies Bruno made that came true, like Felix and Pepa's wedding being disrupted by a hurricane. Dolores describes fearing Bruno's mutterings and the sound of falling sand. Isabella recalls Bruno prophesying her power and dreams coming true. Though Bruno is shunned, his accurate predictions left the family unsettled and unable to understand his gift. In the end, Mirabel resolves to find Bruno for the truth about his role in the family.

The Family Madrigal

Song by Encanto - Cast, Olga Merediz, and Stephanie Beatriz

Mirabel: My cousin's ceremony is tonight.

Children: What’s his gift?
Mirabel: We’re gonna find out!
Children: What’s your gift?
Mirabel: Who’s asking?
Children: Us!!
Mirabel: Well, us… I can’t just talk about myself! I’m only part of the amazing
Madrigals.
Childs: Who are the Amazing Madrigals?
Mirabel: You’re not gonna leave me alone, are you?
Casita help me out!
Drawers!
Floors!
Doors!
Let's go
This is our home
We've got every generation
So full of music
A rhythm of its own design
This is my family
A perfect constellation
So many stars and everybody gets to shine
Whoa
But let's be clear, Abuela runs this show, whoa
She led us here so many years ago, whoa
And every year our family blessings grow
There's just a lot you've simply got to know, so
Welcome to the Family Madrigal
The home of the Family Madrigal (we're on our way)
Where all the people are fantastical and magical
I'm part of the Family Madrigal.

Abuela: Mirabel! What are you doing?

Mirabel: Uhm, they were just asking about the family and—-
Child 1: She was about to tell us about her super awesome gift!
Dolores: Oh! Mirabel didn’t get one.
(Abuela and Dolores will leave)
(Abuela will invite the family to get a picture)
Abuela: It’s a great night! A perfect night! Come, come, come! Let’s take a picture
(Everyone will come)
Abuela: Everyone!
Everyone: La Familia Madrigal!

(Everyone will pose except for Mirabel)

*The ambiance will change*

Waiting On A Miracle
Song by Stephanie Beatriz

Mirabel: Don’t feel upset or mad at all

Don’t feel regret or sad at all.
Hey, I'm still a part of the family Madrigal
And I'm fine, I am totally fine
I will stand on the side as you shine
I'm not fine, I'm not fine

I can't move the mountains

I can't make the flowers bloom
I can't take another night up in my room
Waiting on a miracle

I can't heal what's broken

Can't control the morning rain or a hurricane
Can't keep down the unspoken invisible pain
Always waiting on a miracle, a miracle.
BUT!

I would move the mountains

Make new trees and flowers grow

Someone please just let me know, where do I go?

I am waiting on a miracle, a miracle

I would heal what's broken

Show this family something new

Who I am inside, so what can I do?

I'm sick of waiting on a miracle, so here I go

I am ready, come on, I'm ready

I've been patient, and steadfast, and steady

Bless me now as you blessed us all those years ago

When you gave us a miracle

Am I too late for a miracle?

Mirabel: What will I do now?

(Mirabel will be disappointed)
But why do they don’t talk about Tio Bruno?
Oh! I need to find Tio Bruno!

We Don't Talk About Bruno

Artists: Stephanie Beatriz, Diane Guerrero, Rhenzy Feliz, Carolina Gaitán, Adassa,
Mauro Castillo, Encanto - Cast

Pepa: We don’t talk about Bruno!!

Mirabel: What if you didn’t understand what he saw?

Felix: Then you better figured it out, because it was coming for YOU!

Pepa: We don't talk about Bruno, no, no, no!

We don't talk about Bruno... but

It was my wedding day

Felix: It was our wedding day

Pepa: We were getting ready, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky

Felix: No clouds allowed in the sky

Pepa: Bruno walks in with a mischievous grin-

Felix: Thunder!

Pepa: You telling this story, or am I?

Felix: I'm sorry, mi vida, go on

Pepa: Bruno says, "It looks like rain"

Felix: Why did he tell us?

Pepa: In doing so, he floods my brain

Felix: Abuela, get the umbrellas

Pepa: Married in a hurricane

Felix: What a joyous day... but anyway

Pepa & Felix: We don't talk about Bruno, no, no, no!

We don't talk about Bruno!

Dolores: Hey! Grew to live in fear of Bruno stuttering or stumbling

I could always hear him sort of muttering and mumbling

I associate him with the sound of falling sand, ch-ch-ch

It's a heavy lift, with a gift so humbling

Always left Abuela and the family fumbling

Grappling with prophecies they couldn't understand

Do you understand?

Camilo: A seven-foot frame

Rats along his back

When he calls your name

It all fades to black

Yeah, he sees your dreams

And feasts on your screams (hey!)

Pepa, Felix, and Camilo: We don't talk about Bruno, no, no, no!

Dolores:(We don't talk about Bruno, no, no, no!)

We don't talk about Bruno (we don't talk about Bruno!)

Fish Girl: He told me my fish would die

The next day: dead! Three of them:(No, no!)

Guy 1: He told me I'd grow a gut!

And just like he said... (no, no!)

Bald Man: He said that all my hair would disappear, now look at my head (no, no!
Hey!)

Everyone: Your fate is sealed when your prophecy is read!

Isabela: He told me that the life of my dreams would be promised, and someday be
mine

He told me that my power would grow, like the grapes that thrive on the vine

Abuela: Óye, Mariano's on his way

Dolores: He told me that the man of my dreams would be just out of reach

Betrothed to another

It's like I hear him now

Dolores: Hey sis', I want not a sound out of you Dolores:(it's like I can hear him now)

Dolores: I can hear him now

Mirabel: Um, Bruno...

Yeah, about that Bruno...

I really need to know about Bruno...

Gimmie the truth and the whole truth, Bruno

Camilo: (Isabella, your boyfriend's here)

Time for dinner!

(ALL AT ONE)

1. Camilo: A seven-foot frame Pepa: (it was my wedding day, Felix: it was
our wedding day)
Camilo: Rats along his back Felix: (we were getting ready)

sky)

mischievous grin-)
Camilo:And feasts on your screams Felix: (thunder!)

2. Isabela: (He told me that the life of my dreams would be promised, and
someday be mine
He told me that my power would grow, like the grapes that thrive on the vine,
I’m fine)
Dolores: (Hey! Grew to live in fear of Bruno stuttering or stumbling
I could always hear him sort of muttering and mumbling
I associate him with the sound of falling sand, ch-ch-ch
It's a heavy lift, with a gift so humbling
Always left Abuela and the family fumbling
Grappling with prophecies they couldn't understand
Do you understand?)
Abuela: Oye, Mariano’s on his way!

1. Camilo: A seven-foot frame

Rats along his back
When he calls your name
It all fades to black
Yeah, he sees your dreams
And feasts on your screams (hey!)
2. Pepa: Bruno says, "It looks like rain"

Betrothed to another, another.
(And I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine)

Everyone except for Mirabel: He’s here!

Don’t talk about Bruno! No!
Mirabel: Why did I talk about Bruno?
Everyone except for Mirabel: Not a word about Bruno
Mirabel: Never should have brought up Bruno!
(Bruno will approach Mirabel)
*gives the candle*
Bruno: You must embrace your sister, for the candle to get even brighter.
Mirabel: Do I really have to do that?
(Bruno nods)

At Isabela’s room.
Mirabel: Hey Isa, I’m ready to be a good sister, to you.
Isabela: Luisa can’t lift an empanada, Mariano’s nose looks like a smashed
papaya, have you lost your mind?!
Mirabel: Isa, I feel like you’re upset. And you know what cures being upset?
A WARM EMBRACE!
Isabela: Get out!
(A bunch of person will push Mirabel to the door of Isa’s room)
Mirabel: You selfish, entitled princess!
Isabela: Selfish?! I’ve been stuck being perfect my whole life, and you do
nothing, but just mess things up!
(A cactus will appear out of nowhere)
Mirabel: Isa, that was quite a serious confession. Come on, give your sister a
hug.

*Isabela will pick up the cactus*

What Else Can I Do?

Song by Diane Guerrero and Stephanie Beatriz

Isabela: I just made something unexpected

Something sharp, something new
It's not symmetrical or perfect
But it's beautiful and it's mine
What else can I do?

Mirabel: Bring it in, bring it in

Good talk, bring it in, bring it in (what else can I do?)
Let's walk, bring it in, bring it in
Free hugs, bring it in, bring it in

Mirabel: You just seem like your life's been a dream (whoa)
Since the moment you opened your eyes
Isabela: (How far do these roots go down?)
Mirabel: All I know are the blossoms you grow (whoa)
But it's awesome to see how you rise
Isabela: How far can I rise?
Through the roof, to the skies
Together: Let's go
Isabela: What can you do when you are deeply, madly, truly in the moment?
Mirabel: (Seize the moment, keep goin')
Isabela: What can you do when you know who you wanna be is imperfect?
But I'll still be okay
Mirabel: Hey, everybody clear the way, woo
Isabela: I'm comin' through with tabebuia
Mirabel:(she's comin' through with that boo-yeah)
Isabela: Making waves
Mirabel: (making waves),
Isabela: changing minds
Mirabel: (you've changed mine)
Isabela: The way is clearer 'cause you're here, and well
I owe this all to you
What else can I do?
Mirabel: (Show 'em what you can do)
Isabela: What else can I do?
Mirabel: (There's nothing you can't do)
Isabela: What else can I do?

(Isabela and Mirabel will embrace each other)

Isabela: You’re a bad influence!
Mirabel: (Laughs)

(Abuela will come)

Abuela: What is going on?!
Mirabel: (panicking) Abuela, it's okay. Everythings— we’re gonna save the
miracle. The magic…
Abuela: What are you talking about? Look at our home. Look at your sister!
Mirabel: Please just… Isabela wasn’t happy—
Abuela: Of course she wasn’t happy, you ruined her proposal!
Mirabel: no, no, no, she needed me to ruin her proposal.
And then we did all of this, and then the candle turned brighter, and the
cracks.
That’s why I’m in the vision.
Abuela: Mirabel.
Mirabel: I’m saving the miracle!
Abuela: You have to stop Mirabel!
(Mirabel hesitates)
The cracks started with you!
Bruno left because of you!
Luisa’s losing her powers, Isabela’s out of control, because of you!
I don’t know why you weren’t given a gift, but it is not an excuse for you to
hurt this family!
Mirabel: (In a heavy voice) I will never be good enough for you.
(Family will come)
Mirabel: No matter how hard I try, no matter how hard any of us tries.
Luisa will never be strong enough, Isabela will never be perfect enough.
Bruno left our family, because you only saw the worst in him.
Abuela: Bruno didn’t care about this family!
Mirabel: He loves this family! I love this family! We all love this family!
You’re the one that doesn’t care! You’re the one breaking our home.
Abuela: Don’t you ever—
Mirabel: The miracle is dying because of you!
(Both shocked)
*Everyone will fall apart*
(Mirabel will leave)
(Everyone will leave, finding Mirabel)
Julieta & Felix: Mirabel! Mirabel
Isabela and Camilo: Mirabel, Mirabel!
Dolores: Mirabel! Mirabel!

*Abuela and Bruno will see each other*

Abuela: Tonito! I’m deeply sorry Bruno. We love you!
Bruno: I missed you!

(Mirabel will be found by Abuela and Bruno)

Bruno: Hey kid, someone wants to talk to you.
*Abuela and Mirabel will see each other*
(In just a second, they will hug each other)
Abuela: I’m sorry Mirabel!
Mirabel: It’s okay Abuela, our family needs you.
Abuela: I asked Pedrito for help, He sent me you.
Mirabel: Let’s go to our home.

(They will run)

All Of You
Artists: Maluma, Stephanie Beatriz, John Leguizamo, Adassa, Olga Merediz,
Encanto - Cast

Mirabel: Look at this home, we need a new foundation

It may seem hopeless but we'll get by just fine

Look at this family, a glowing constellation

So full of stars and everybody wants to shine

But the stars don't shine, they burn

And the constellations shift

I think it's time you learn

You're more than just your gift

Abuela: And I'm sorry I held on too tight

Just so afraid I'd lose you too

The miracle is not some magic that you've got

The miracle is you, not some gift, just you

The miracle is you

Everyone: All of you, all of you

The stars don't shine, they burn

The constellations glow

The seasons change in turn

Julieta: Would you watch our little girl go?

Agustin: She takes after you

Mirabel: Oh

Hey Mariano, why so blue?

Mariano: I just have so much love inside

Mirabel: You know, I've got this cousin too

Have you met Dolores?

Dolores: Okay, I'll take it from here, goodbye

*Dolores will come closer to Mariano*

(they will hold each others hand)

Dolores: You talk so loud

You take care of your mother and you make her proud

You write your own poetry every night when you go to sleep

And I'm seizing the moment, so would you wake up and notice me?

Mariano: Dolores, I see you Dolores: (and I hear you)

Mirabel and Isabela: Yes (all of you, all of you)

Mariano: Let's get married Dolores: (slow down)

Everyone: All of you, all of you

Mirabel: Home sweet home

I like the new foundation

Abuela: It isn't perfect

Mirabel: Neither are we Abuela:(that's true)

Abuela: Just one more thing

Before the celebration

Mirabel: (what?)

Bruno: We need a doorknob

We made this one for you

(Everyone will split into two lines as they welcome Mirabel)

*While looking at Mirabel*

We see how bright you burn

We see how brave you've been

Now, see yourself in turn

Bruno: You're the real gift, kid, let us in

Abuela: Open your eyes

Abre los ojos

What do you see?
Mirabel: I see… me
All of me
