BUDGET SOURCE : CPO-MOOE (7621-05-02-99-990-AHD)

II.RATIONALE

The Commission on Population-CAR, through it Adolescent Health and Youth

Development Program, aims to bring services and programs to the Cordilleran youth at the
grassroots level. The most basic of these services is the delivery of IEC and advocacy
programs to both in-school and out of school youth.

101 XSX or “101 ways to become empowered youth and ‘x’ the early sex (XSX)” is the
main campaign slogan for the commission’s strategic communication for AHYD. The idea
plays on the concept of abbreviation and coding used by the youth in their SMS
communication and online messaging.

The campaign aims to create a movement of youth that advocates and commits itself to
“101” ways to become more productive members of society. 101 XSX aims to challenge the
youth to give their own ways or commitments to become better citizens and ultimately
divert their time and focus away from early sexual engagements.

The 101 also stands for 1 on 1 interaction. Whether be it online or personal interaction,
the goal is to create a productive relationship between youth, between young males and
females, and even between youth and adults. The campaign aims to break the boundary of
secrecy and embarrassment of discussing concerns on the sexuality and health.

One of these programs is the U4U Teen Trail, an interactive and fun learning activity
focused on discussing ARH issues and threats for teens. The U4U Teen Trail is part of a
national initiative of PopCom that was developed by the UN Population Fund together with
partners from the Center for Health Solutions and Innovations (CHSI).

Activities like the U4U Teen Trail help bring AHYD programs and services in the City to
the awareness of youth through a more interactive and fun system. It is therefore necessary
that these programs be implemented in more areas as possible. Part of the teen trail is the
training of Teen Facilitators who shall be the focal group to conduct all the activities.
III.OBJECTIVES

a. To train teen facilitators on key facilitation skills, ARH concepts and issues and
activities to be conducted at the actual teen trail
b. Create a core group of teen facilitators that can be tapped if needed to implement
other teen trails in the area or train other future facilitators
c. Implement a U4U activity in one high schools of Tabuk City in the area after the

for the Filipino Youth
