At the end of the week, the students should be able to:


a. differentiate between the First, Second and Third World countries;
b. explain the basic criteria for distinguishing the most important structural differences
among developing nations;
c. discuss each of the common characteristics of Developing Countries; and
d. cite examples of how each of the characteristic of Developing Countries is manifested
in the Philippines, a Third World country.

II. LEARNING CONTENT

A. INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITY

A.1 Classification of Countries


Using the different political maps, identify the countries in the given blank maps of the different
continents below. Search for any reference for you to identify to which these countries belong to
whether in the FIRST WORLD, SECOND WORLD, or THIRD WORLD. Map the classification of
these countries by assigning them to the following color legends.

FIRST WORLD DEVELOPED


SECOND WORLD DEVELOPING
THIRD WORLD UNDERDEVELOPED

A.2 Classification of Economic system

In another set of the different political maps, identify the countries in the given blank maps of the
different continents below. Search for any reference for you to identify to which these countries belong
to whether in the COMMAND ECONOMY. FREE MARKET ECONOMY or MIXED MARKET
ECONOMY. Map the classification of these countries by assigning them to the following color
legends.

COMMAND ECONOMY
FREE MARKET ECONOMY
MIXED MARKET ECONOMY
TRADITIONAL ECONOMY

You may print the maps and color it then just take a picture of your work and send it as
softcopy, or you may use any coloring application software that you are familiar to use as long as you
can finish the task.
