With the digital computer at the core of this information revolution, it is well
known that year-to-year, computers are becoming more and more powerful
both in terms of their computational speeds and also their capacities for
storing data.

Microsoft PowerPoint is a software application that allows you to create slide


shows, organize, summarize and format your materials and other multimedia
component. It has developed significantly throughout the years from version
after another from a linear presentation (one slide after another) to non- linear
and more flexible and complex yet easy to use presentation program. Even
though more recent versions of PowerPoint look quite different than earlier
versions, the commands and functions that you're used to are still here.
They’re all now in the ribbon, which is a kind of menu that organizes them in a
visual way.

Let’s first look at how to format content of a presentation by exploring how the
ribbon works, and then how to find where the features you want might be.

How to format content of a presentation?

To format content of a presentation is to change the size, font, and text


style to add emphasis and to highlight content. Thus, the formatting
toolbar provides access to several text formatting functionsto revise
the outlook of the presentation.
What is a toolbar in Powerpoint?

Toolbars are icons that offers quick shortcuts to commonly used commands.

present don’t look the same
anymore. The menus and
toolbars are replaced by the
Ribbon tabs, a Quick Access
Toolbar, and the mini
toolbar.What is important is
that most of the PowerPoint
views and functions also
remain the same to achieve
learning objectives for
integrating multimedia
presentations into your
work/project.

Powerpoint Formatting Interface

1. The Quick Access Toolbar- This displays most frequently used tasks
such as New, Open, Save and you can also add icons for your often
used commands to this toolbar.This is a customizable toolbar placed
by default on the top of Ribbon.

2. Mini Toolbar- use the mini toolbar to add formatting to your


document.

To use the Mini toolbar,

3. Ribbon – It contains the commands organized in three components.

change backgrounds and choose different design themes.
4. Transitions Tab- Set up how your slides change from one to the
next slide.

5. Animation Tab- Contains commands in managing and animation


settings to add more attraction to your presentation, use this tab
to manage effects and animation settings.

Slide Show Tab- Displays the related commands which are
grouped as Start Slide Show, Set Up and Monitors.

7. Review Tab- Displays the related commands which are grouped as


Proofing, Language, Comments and Compare.
8. View Tab- Allows you to look at your presentation in different ways,
depending on where you are in the creation or delivery process.

9. Format Tab/Tools Tab- Is part of the tool bar for changing shape
parameters.

10. File Tab- At one end of the ribbon is the File tab, which you
use for the behind-the-scenes stuff you do with a file, such as
opening, saving, sharing, exporting, printing and managing your
presentation. Click the File tab to open a new view called the
Backstage.

Direction: Do the following procedure as directed. Use the storyboard to plan the
content and layout of your presentation. In the absence of computer, you can do it
through a poster or a comic story in any available sheet of paper.

1. Make a Powerpoint presentation using a blank presentation from the


installed templates.
2. Create five-slides.
3. Encode the presentation title about Filipino Delicacies in the first slide.
4. Type in the contents of your presentation in slide number two, three and
four. You may enhance your presentation using the commands on the
ribbon.
5. On the last slide, acknowledge the viewers/listeners of your presentation,
e.i Thank you…
6. Save your presentation as “Filipino Delicacies”.
