Classroom Management
Skills and
Styles

Learning Episode 6 centers on the classroom structure and

routines done by teachers in class to provide a safe, friendly non-
threatening and caring environment. Effective classroom routines ensure
order and discipline to help the students to stay calm and focused on their
daily tasks.

At the end of this episode, you must be able to list down the
classroom routines set or practiced by the teacher and observe how the
classroom routines are executed in class.

Routines are the backbone of daily classroom life. They facilitate

teaching and learning. Routines don’t just make the life of the teacher
easier. They have valuable classroom time. Efficient routines make it
easier for students to learn and achieve more.
Establishing routines early in the school year:
o Enables the teacher to run the daily activities smoothly
o Ensures the teacher to manage time effectively
o Helps the teacher maintain order in the classroom

1
o Makes the teacher more focused in teaching because of spending less
time in giving directions/instructions
o Enables the teacher to explain to the learners what are expected to
them.

Now, are you ready for your observation activity? I bet you are, so let’s begin.

Analyze the routines set by the Resource Teacher by answering the

following questions:

1. Why or why not were the routines set by the teacher effective in ensuring
discipline and order in class?

Answer: The routines set by the teacher serves as their guide as they go
along with another day in school. By following the set routines every day,
they are trained to discipline their selves. And if they are disciplined, they
can do positive behavior.

2. Which of those routines were systematic and consistently implemented?

Explain your answer.

Answer: As what I’ve observed, the most consistent routine that was
implemented is the cleaning the inside and outside of the classroom. This
routine was consistently implemented because teacher is part of the Solid
Waste Management team in school. Aside from being part of the SWM,
she really believes that classroom cleanliness leads to a happy learning.

3
Reflect on the observed routines.

1. Which of the routines will you most likely apply in your class in the future?
Why? Why not?
Answer:
For me the perfect routine that I will apply in my class in the future is
the cleaning of classroom inside and out. Because it is really good when you
have clean surroundings. And aside from having clean learning
environment, learners are safe from diseases that dirty surroundings may
bring.

Your Activity 6.2

Resource Teacher: Mrs. Lourdesita L. Macasilhig Signature: ____________

Grade/Year Level: Grade 10 Cookery Date: Nov. 07, 2022

To realize your learning objectives, you need to observe a class and list
down the classroom rules formulated by the Resource Teacher. Cite the importance
of these rules. If this is not possible during pandemic, recall an event of your life
when you were still enjoying the face-to-face classes, or you may interview any of
your teachers in basic education.

It is imperative to impose classroom rules to reinforce discipline,

safety, and security. These rules teach students self-discipline and self-control.
These eliminate stress and provide a more pleasant, secure, and non-
threatening

4
learning environment. Rules ensure the students engagement and focus on
their classroom activities.

Classroom Rules Importance

1. Eg. Always come on time. Being on time means being responsible. So as

learners they should be responsible for time
management.
2. Respect your Teachers and Classmates Respect is very essential to all individuals. And it is
very important to give respect not just to the teachers
but to everyone.
3. Keep Quite While the teacher is discussing, or if someone is
talking in front of the class everyone should pay
attention and keep quiet. This also gives respect to
the one talking in front.
4. No cell phones during class hours Using cell phones while the teacher is discussing is a
sign of disrespect. So, it is very important that during
class hours, cell phones should be turned off.
5. Listen when someone is talking As a sign of respect, listen if someone is talking in
front.
6. Cooperate Be cooperative in every task given by the teacher.
7. Be Nice and Friendly Having a lot of friends feels good. So be nice and
friendly.

Analyze and answer the questions below.

1. Analyze each rule you listed in the table above. What circumstances led to the
formulation of the rule?

Answer: As what I’ve observed when my cooperating teacher is discussing in

front of the class there are students who are not paying attention and playing
with their mobile phones. So, I put myself into the situation of my cooperating
teacher, how would I react if students are doing those things? So, I decided to put
those rules for me to manage my class in the future.
2. Are classroom rules really very important?
Answer: Yes, of course, classroom rules are very important because this will be the
guide for every learner as they go along with their learning. The classroom will be
more organized and safer because they have rules to follow.

5
Reflect on the various classroom rules set by the resource teacher. Will you
have the same rules? If not, what rules are you going to employ? Explain your
answer.
Answer:

When it is my time to teach yes, probably I would have the

same rules. But I will also add other rules that I think would help
me to manage the class. And also rules that I think will be useful
both for the teacher and the learner.

6
Take some snapshots of the classroom routines employed
by the Resource Teacher which are worth emulating. Tell
something about the pictures.

As what we’ve seen from the pictures. Some of the students are
reporting and the teacher instructed them to seat with their
proper seat and keep quiet and listen. It was good indication
that the learners are following the instruction.

Great Job! You are done with the observation activity for the Learning
Episode 6. To successfully end your Learning Episode 6, go to your LMS and
answer the Learning Episode 6 Quiz.
