2. Malfunctions and Restrictions


Following Malfunctions and Restrictions are included in this GM mass-production

2.1. Malfunctions (The modified firmware will be released end of May.)


1) It is possible that LCD may not start up if the main power is turned on and wait 15 seconds then turn on the sub
power
2) It is possible that the message ”Malfunction detected, please turn OFF/ON the main power switch.” may be
displayed if the sub power switch is turned off and then main power is turned off at short times.

2.2. Restrictions
Those will be fixed in the next mass-production program update.
1) It is not equipped Total counter Back-up function of NV-RAM
2) When the machine recover from Weekly Timer’s Low Power Mode by pressing the power save key, it may not
ask the Password for Non-Business Hours.
3) Error may occur when the Administrator name and extension number are written from PSDA.
4) A paper jam may occur on the second job when the last page of the mixed document is A4 and connect to FS-
523.
Workaround: please make a copy one by one.
5) Electric signature with touch panel may fail when it is read on [PageACSES]PDF file.
Cause: malfunction of PageACSES.
Workaround: if electric signature is needed, please use TIF file.
6) Custom size setting may be required when A4 is saved in the external memory and output.
Cause: margin of error on image size conversion processing
7) Combination of “PC-407+LU-203” may display “PC-206+LU203” on PSDP device information acquisition.
Workaround: Please select a correct combination manually.

Restriction of the WindowsNT OS


1) On WinNT, error image may output if PC-FAX is sent by the shared driver

3. How to install
3.1. How to update the firmware
Since USB memory is used for upgrading firmware version, extract program
file attached to this document beforehand and store the folder [bizhub 501]
in USB memory.
(Remark: DO NOT change folder name.)
For the details of upgrade of ISW version by using USB memory, see the
Service Manual.

<Caution>
USB memories recommend by KMBT are as follows.

<Note>
To execute the ISW, be sure to turn ON the Main power switch (SW1) of the main body and the Sub-power switch
(SW2). If the power were turned ON after the connection had done while the power OFF, USB Memory may not
be recognized.

3.2. How to check version


You can check the version in the Service Mode, “Firmware version display". About the version, please refer to
“Operation panel display” in “1. Release version and download file name”.
