What is a platform?
● In IT, a platform is any hardware or software used to host an application or service.
● Simply, it is an infrastructure by which multiple applications are developed upon.
ONLINE PLATFORMS
● A base of technologies designed to run within an online environment and provides
interactive online services. It also has the ability to program, modify, and access the
application remotely as long as you can connect to the internet.
Blogging Platform:
This application is mainly focused on creating a blog. Some features include:
● Ready templates
● Create articles, images, and videos
● Link to other websites
● Timely post
Video Sharing Platforms:
● This platform allows users to upload, share videos, or live stream their own videos to the
Internet.
● Examples: TikTok, Vimeo, Twitch, Dailymotion, Youtube
E-commerce Platforms:
● E-commerce involves all types of commercial transactions conducted over the Internet,
primarily consisting of the buying and selling of products and services.
● An e-commerce platform is a software application which allows the business owner to
manage their sale operations online. With an infrastructure that unifies business
applications and the data that feeds them, it is possible to create relevant, engaging, and
personalized online experiences.

CLOUD COMPUTING
● It is storing and accessing your data and programs over the Internet instead of your
computer’s hard drive.
● It is the delivery of different services or tools through the Internet. These resources
include tools like data storage, servers, databases, networking, and software.

CLOUD STORAGE
● A service wherein files from users are stored online. The files are uploaded by users and
are received by a storage server that hosts the service.
