My name is [Your
Name],together with [name] and I am honored to present our research on "Revolutionizing the
Packaging Industry: Commercializing Biodegradable Bags Derived from Cornstarch and Banana Fiber for
Enhanced Profitability and Environmental Impact."
The packaging industry plays a crucial role in our modern society, but it also contributes significantly to
environmental pollution. Today, I will introduce an innovative solution that addresses this issue by
utilizing cornstarch and banana fiber to create biodegradable bags that are not only environmentally
friendly but also economically viable. Together, we can revolutionize the packaging industry and pave the
way for a sustainable future.
the significance of this study lies in its potential to revolutionize the packaging industry by introducing
commercially viable and environmentally friendly biodegradable bags derived from cornstarch and
banana fiber. By addressing the pressing issues of plastic pollution and resource inefficiency, this
research paves the way for a sustainable future while offering economic opportunities for businesses
and stakeholders.
for rrl: the RRL helps us in providing a comprehensive overview of existing knowledge, design
methodology, and validating findings that helps us researchers plan our work within the broader context
and contributes to the generation of new knowledge.
During our research, we investigated the production process of these bags. The banana fiber is first
extracted from Banana pseudostem and processed into a suitable form for bag production.
Cornstarch, onm the other hand acting as a binder, is then mixed with the banana fiber to create a
composite material.
Characteristics of bioplastic
Cornstarch is an ideal material for becoming a bioplastic coating due to its biodegradability, gelatinization
properties, adhesive capabilities, flexibility, transparency, and compatibility with other materials. These
characteristics allow cornstarch to form a durable and environmentally friendly coating that can adhere
to surfaces and provide protection while being easily broken down by microorganisms in the
environment.
The researchers gathered data by conducting a survey contrasting Treatment A and Treatment B, where
researchers chose twelve people randomly using the convenience sampling method to determine the
effectivity, costliness, and composition of the Biodegradable Packaging. The different ratings of the
respondents compared the treatments in terms of Biodegradability, Renewable, and Non-Toxicity.
Biodegradability
The t-test analysis showed a significant difference (t = 4.19, p < 0.05) in the perceived effectiveness
ratings of biodegradability between plastic bags and biodegradable bags. This indicates that
biodegradable bags are perceived to be more effective in terms of their biodegradability compared to
plastic bags. These findings highlight the potential environmental benefits of using biodegradable bags
over plastic bags.
Renewability
The t-test analysis showed no significant difference (t = -3.12, p > 0.05) in the perceived effectiveness
ratings of renewability between plastic bags and biodegradable bags. This suggests that there is no
substantial disparity in the perceived renewability between the two types of bags. These findings
indicate that both plastic bags and biodegradable bags are perceived to be similarly effective in terms of
renewability.
Non-Toxicity
The t-test analysis revealed a significant difference (t = 3.49, p < 0.05) in the perceived effectiveness
ratings of non-toxicity between plastic bags and biodegradable bags. This indicates that biodegradable
bags are perceived to be more effective in terms of their non-toxicity compared to plastic bags. These
findings highlight the potential advantages of biodegradable bags in terms of reducing potential toxicity
risks.
RECOMMENDATIONS
The researchers came up with the conclusions and made the following recommendations:
Further investigation into the optimal ratio of banana fiber to cornstarch in the production of packaging
materials should be conducted, as well as the effect of other additives.
The mechanical and barrier properties of the packaging material should be thoroughly tested to ensure
that it is suitable for a wide range of applications.
Consumer perception and acceptance of packaging made from banana fiber and cornstarch should be
evaluated through surveys or focus groups to determine the potential market for such products.
The environmental impact of the production and disposal of banana fiber and cornstarch packaging
materials should be assessed and compared to traditional plastic packaging.
