1.4 Successful Information Management

03
Succ essful I nfo rm ation M anag emen t

A successful project requires a smart plan, lean scope, collaborative processes, team agreement, supporting
technology, and solid tracking, control, and verification workflows.

Our project execution planning ensures that all parties are clearly aware of the opportunities and
responsibilities associated with the incorporation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) into our project.

Our plan details the correct processes for executing BIM throughout the project's lifecycle.

On this project, we will follow these four steps to ensure that all teams are meeting the project's Exchange
Information Requirements:

1. Identify high value Model/BIM Uses that will support Exchange Information Requirements

2. Design and document optimal project execution processes

3. Define the BIM deliverables in the form of information exchanges

4. Develop the infrastructure in the form of contracts, communication procedures, technology and quality
control to support the implementation.

1.5 Why We Use BIM Wh y W e U se BI M

The primary reasons we use BIM are:

1. Eliminating waste

2. Increasing productivity

3. Improving design quality

4. Reacting to industry demand

5. Satisfying owner/appointing party requirements

6. Gaining a competitive advantage

7. Improving corporate innovation

3.4 5D Cost Estimation 5D Cost E sti m atio n

A process in which BIM can be used to assist in the generation of accurate

quantity take-offs and cost estimates throughout the lifecycle of a project.

This process allows the project team to see the cost effects of their changes,
during all phases of the project, which can help curb excessive budget overruns
due to project modifications. Specifically, BIM can provide cost effects of additions
and modifications, with potential to save time and money and is most beneficial in
the early design stages of a project

4.9 Health, Safety, and CDM Requirements

For our current project, "KT- School", the appointing party insists that our company we, as the Lead
Appointed Party, must utilize Building Information Modelling (BIM) to anticipate and minimize health and
safety hazards throughout the project phases.

1. Safety Feature Integration: Our BIM model will incorporate all safety features of the school,
including clearly marked fire escape routes and the locations of fire safety equipment. For instance,
the model indicates the placement of fire extinguishers in the school's science laboratories and other
high-risk areas, such as the kitchen and woodwork room.

2. Material Safety Data: We have ensured that all materials used in the construction of the school are
safe and comply with industry standards. For example, our BIM model will include detailed
information about the non-toxic, fire-resistant insulation material planned for use throughout the
building.

3. Compliance Monitoring: Regular audits and reviews of the BIM model are scheduled to ensure
adherence to health, safety, and CDM requirements. Our project manager has been tasked with
addressing any non-compliance issues that arise during these audits.

4. Information Security: Our BIM model's health and safety data access is limited to authorized
personnel to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the information.

We hereby confirm our commitment to adhering to all relevant health and safety legislation, including the Health
and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the CDM Regulations 2015. We also pledge to follow BIM standards as
outlined in ISO 19650 (parts 1 and 2).
BEP

We assure that we ( the appointed party ) will uphold the highest standards of health and safety
throughout the execution of the "KT- School" project.
