Cloud Ship Manager Installation - Server - Via Internet
Cloud Ship Manager Installation - Server - Via Internet
1 Introduction
This document will guide you through the process of setting up the Cloud Ship Manager server on your
system. If you want to install the Cloud Ship Manager client, please use the dedicated installation
guide.
The first part of this guide contains general information about the software you are going to install
and necessary preparations to do so. Please read these instructions carefully, to fully understand the
process and avoid any problems.
The second part is the step-by-step guide through the installation, including screenshots of what
should happen on screen, alongside instructions on what to do at what time.
The server should be installed first, either on a central PC (e.g. the Communication PC with SkyFile or
Telaurus installed) or on a server onboard the vessel. The client can be installed on multiple PCs,
including the PC running the server component.
The server communicates with the shore side either via direct internet connection (recommended), or
over an email communication system (e.g. Telaurus, SkyFile). During the installation you will be asked
which method you want to use. Depending on your choice you will have to provide different
information to properly configure the connection.
If you use an email communication system files are written to and read from the “Communication”
directory inside the installation folder (default C:\Program Files\HS CloudShipManager Server\
Communication\). Received files should be stored in the “Updates” directory, outgoing files will be
created in the “Output” directory, by the server.
1.2 Requirements
All requirements will be installed without further action, if the “deps” folder is kept alongside the setup
file.
Please make sure you have the “deps” folder, before running the installer.
2.1. Step-by-Step Installation
1.
To start the installation please make sure you
have “deps” directory (1) along with the “HS
Cloud Ship Manager Client Setup” file (2).
3.
Select whether you want import backup data
from your previous installation (1)
(recommended, if you have data backups).
4.
If you chose to load file attachments, the wizard
will show you the summary of tasks.
6.
Choose your method of communication from
the dropdown menu (1). Depending on your
choice you’ll be asked to enter different
information (see 2.2 for further steps).
This is the recommended connection method, as the CSM server will communicate directly with the server on
the shore side to exchange data, without requiring an additional email setup. The only requirement is an allowed
https (port 443) access to the domain ‘’.
