Chapter 6 STEEL

The document discusses design of steel members subject to combined axial and bending stresses. It provides equations from the AISC Specification for determining if a member meets strength requirements when subjected to both axial force and bending moment. An example problem is also included to demonstrate how to use the equations to check if a W12x96 steel beam-column meets the requirements for a given axial load and bending moment condition. Design is checked using the Load and Resistance Factor Design method.
