4.1 Fiber
4.1.1 Introduction
The ISCOM6860 can use the Single-mode Fiber (SMF) and Multi-mode Fiber (MMF). The
two kind of fibers are the same in appearance but different in color. The SMF is yellow while
the MMF is orange.
The ISCOM6860 can be connected to the Optical Distribution Frame (ODF) or optical
interfaces of other devices through fibers.
Table 4-1 lists fiber connectors supported by the ISCOM6860.
The type of the fiber connector and length of the fiber jumper should be selected
reasonably as required.
The fiber connector supported by the optical interface is related to the optical
modules. For details, see the chapter of the related interfaces.
Choose a fiber connector which complies with the requirements of the optical
interface. Otherwise, it may increase fiber loss, decrease service transmission
quality, or even damage the fiber connector and optical interface.
4.1.2 Connector
The fiber connectors are different in types, insertion end, and tail fiber protective sheathe
color, as listed in Table 4-2.
The appearance of various types of fiber connector and the methods of inserting and plugging
the fiber connector are as below:
When connecting or removing the LC/PC fiber connector, align the connector with the optical
interface, and do not rotate the fiber. Note the following points:
Align the head of the fiber jumper with the optical interface and insert the optical fiber
into the interface gently.
To remove the fiber, press the latch on the connector, pull the fiber connector inward
slightly, and pull the fiber out.
When connecting or removing the SC/PC fiber connector, align the connector with the optical
interface, and do not rotate the fiber. Note the following points:
Align the head of the fiber jumper with the optical interface and insert the optical fiber
into the interface gently.
To remove the fiber, press the latch on the connector, pull the fiber connector inward
slightly, and pull the fiber out.

is usually a non-insulated terminal. The conductive wire is a yellow/green copper soft flame-
retardant one. Figure 4-9 shows the ground cable. Figure 4-10 shows the OT terminal.
Welding technology The conductive wire and OT terminals adopt solderless pressed
connection.
Error in length of ±5 mm
conductive wire
The D in the cable model represents the cable length, which can be customized. For
example, if the length of the customized cable is 4 m, the cable name will be POL-
ground cable-RNB22-6S/stripped wire-16mm2-4m/RoHS.
Table 4-10 lists technical specifications of the OT terminal.
The ISCOM6860 is delivered without the ground cable. You need to prepare one
or make the ground cable on site if needed.
The length of the ground cable cannot be greater than 30 m and should be as
short as possible. If the length exceeds 30 m, use a ground bar instead.
