1.2 Structure
The ISCOM6860 adopts a chassis+card modular design, which helps users select the number
and type of uplink/downlink cards freely according to the network scale. In addition, the
ISCOM6860 supports network expansion based on redundant slots and service expansion
based on new service cards.
The chassis provides a high-speed digital backplane bus, 13 slots, and auxiliary parts, such as
the brackets and anti-static jack.
Figure 1-2 shows the chassis structure.

4 Cables

This chapter describes cables used by the ISCOM6860, including the following sections:
 Fiber
 Ethernet cable
 Configuration cable
 Power cable
 Ground cable

4.1 Fiber
4.1.1 Introduction
The ISCOM6860 can use the Single-mode Fiber (SMF) and Multi-mode Fiber (MMF). The
two kind of fibers are the same in appearance but different in color. The SMF is yellow while
the MMF is orange.
The ISCOM6860 can be connected to the Optical Distribution Frame (ODF) or optical
interfaces of other devices through fibers.

 The type of the fiber connector and length of the fiber jumper should be selected
reasonably as required.
 The fiber connector supported by the optical interface is related to the optical
modules. For details, see the chapter of the related interfaces.
 Choose a fiber connector which complies with the requirements of the optical
interface. Otherwise, it may increase fiber loss, decrease service transmission
quality, or even damage the fiber connector and optical interface.

4.1.2 Connector
The fiber connectors are different in types, insertion end, and tail fiber protective sheathe
color, as listed in Table 4-2.

4.5 Ground cable

Connecting the ground cable properly is an important guarantee for lightning

protection, anti-electric shock, and anti-interference. The ISCOM6860 must be
grounded with the ground cable correctly during installation, which helps to avoid
personal injury and equipment damage.

4.5.1 Introduction
The ground cable is used to ground the ISCOM6860.

4.5.2 Appearance
The ground cable is composed of the OT terminal and the conductive wire. The OT terminal
is usually a non-insulated terminal. The conductive wire is a yellow/green copper soft flame-
retardant one. Figure 4-9 shows the ground cable. Figure 4-10 shows the OT terminal.

DC power to the DC power devices. The main functions and features are as below:
 1 Power Supply Unit (PSU)
– Each PSU has 2 fans.
– The AC input voltage ranges from 100 to 240 VAC.
– The DC output voltage is -53.5 VDC.
– When the input voltage ranges from 176 to 240 VAC, the output current ranges from
0 to 30 A. The maximum output power is 1600 W.
– When the input voltage ranges from 100 to 175 VAC, the output current ranges from
0 to 15 A. The maximum output power is 800 W.
 Connect 1 load.
 The M6 fixed screw on the right bracket can serve as a ground terminal.

The RPA2162-S-220S54 is grounded with the powered device through the bracket on the

9.1 Terms
A
Alarm refers to a human-observable indication that draws attention
to a failure (detected fault) usually giving an indication of the
severity of the fault. It is reported when a fault is detected by a
Alarm
device or by the NMS during the process of polling devices. Each
alarm corresponds to a recovery alarm. After a recovery alarm is
received, the status of the corresponding alarm changes to cleared.

C
Customers use services provided by the device. Customer
Customer information is saved in the NMS only and can be related to the NE
and alarms.

O
A distribution connection device between the fiber and a
Optical communication device. It is an important part of the optical
Distribution Frame transmission system. It is mainly used for fiber splicing, optical
(ODF) connector installation, fiber adjustment, additional pigtail storage,
and fiber protection.
