LESSON INFORMATION

CONTENT STANDARD
The learner demonstrates understanding of different resources of media and information, their design
principle and elements, and selection criteria.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD
The learner produces a living museum or electronic portfolio or any other creative forms of multimedia
showcasing their/ his/her understanding, insights, and perceptions of the different resources of media and
information.

LEARNING COMPETENCY:
The learner discuss the implication of media and information to an individual and the society.

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the 60-minute lesson, at least 75% of the learners are expected to:
a. Explain the difference between people as media and people in media;
b. Discuss the implication of media and information to an individual and the society;
c. Demonstrates a willingness to participate in the activity.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

III. PROCEDURES

Preliminary Activities
Opening Prayer, Greetings, Checking of Attendance, Classroom Rules, Review of the Past Lesson
Motivation
The teacher will flash on the screen different TV, print, radio and social media personalities. She
will tell the class that these personalities might be familiar to them because they might saw
them in TV, radio, magazines, internet, etc.
Based on the pictures presented class, what do you think is our lesson?
- People Media –

A. ACTIVITY
The teacher will play a video clip about an interview of one of the most influential TV
personality. The teacher will ask the following guide questions to them after watching the video
clip. This activity will help them to make connections to the new lesson.

B. ANALYSIS
The teacher will ask the following questions to the learners about the activity:
What have you learned from the video clip played?
What are the sources of information you know?
How important are people as sources of information?
What are the negative and positive effects of media and information to an individual or
to the society?

C. ABSTRACTION
The teacher will present the definition of People Media. And, for better understanding she will
then discuss the difference between People as Media and People in Media.
Afterwards the teacher will discuss the implications of Media and Information to our life as a
whole.

“Based on the definition, we may say that people media consists of men, women,
even children that widely influence the people by reaching them through different
means.
They are the sources of information, and are responsible in disseminating those
information.”
(So class, we must always be careful and aware of the feelings of others in giving or spreading
information because this information might make or break them.. ESP Integration)

“People Media may also be defined as the utilization of people credible in their
respective fields to talk about their expertise and help the students learn from
people with firsthand experiences on a particular field or topic.”

(In history, information came from the firsthand experiences of people who had witnessed the
happenings during those specific times. In Science, a lot of famous scientist who performed
experiments and discoveries that gave us first hand and valuable information.)

The teacher will also discuss the positive and negative effects of media and information to an
individual or to the society.

Media has always been powerful especially with the rise of social media. Each individual,
especially children, can get information accessibly through social media. Thus, one positive
effect of media is the access to varied information social media. Media is also a great way
to express your ideas, feelings, and emotions. There are also several negative effect of
media. One would be in advertising. The society is bombarded with a lot of information
that are harmful and would trigger psychological and mental problems especially to the
youth.
D. APPLICATION
The class will do an activity. They will be divided into three groups. Each group will choose a
facilitator/ leader. Each group will be given a paper with a task on it and will be presented later.
They will be given 15 minutes to brainstorm and prepare their presentation. After which,
another 2-3 minutes will be allotted for each group to present their work.

IV. EVALUATION/ ASSESSMENT

The teacher will show some pictures on how media and information is being utilized individually and in
the society. On a clean sheet of paper, the learners will then write the positive and negative effects of
media to individual and to the society.
