Job Description
Job Title : Registered Nurse

Duties and Responsibilities


 Perform professional nursing duties in hospital and health centre
 Use the nursing process to provide nursing care by:
 Gathering a nursing database through interview and assessment of patient and family.
 Utilizing this data to identify problems, formulate appropriate care, implementing nursing actions,
establish follow-up criteria and develop nursing orders.
 Set priorities for patient care activities.
 Perform nursing assessment, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care rendered.
 Monitor vital signs and early detection of abnormalities.
 Provide medications.
 Accompany doctors on rounds and implement treatment as required.
 Assist doctors in performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
 Perform nursing assessment, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care rendered.
 Maintain strict aseptic technique.
 Maintain records and reports.
 Keep the ward and unit neat and clean.
 Make good relationship with supervisors, junior staff and colleagues.
 Check the drugs especially narcotics at each shifts and check the register and keep it in the locker.
 Conducting in-service education, nursing rounds, ward teaching, health education etc.
 Nursing documentation in a precise and concise manner.
 All aspects of care of elderly patients including morning care, assist for dress changing, feeding
and ambulation.
 Communicate instructions and patient progress and relevant changes in status to members of the
health care team.
 Participate in outreach team activities.
 Assume leadership role by supervising other professional nurses in their management of patient
care and of other nursing personnel.
 Initiate emergency measures as appropriate; emergencies such as RTA with multiple injuries,
Burns, History of falls, Medical emergencies like Myocardial infraction, Left Ventricular failure,
Shock, Diabetic hypo-glycaemia, KA coma, Pneumonia, Oregano- Ohosphorous poisoning,
Seizure disorders.
 Insertion of IV line
 Collection of blood sample for investigations.
 Administer medications via the oral, Intramuscular, Subcutaneous, Intra-dermal, Topical,
Rectal, Respiratory and Intravenous routes all in accordance with nursing policy.
 Maintain medication stock level and ensures appropriate storage emphasis on cold chain, giving
vaccinations to the children and neonates.
 Teach patients and family about health maintenance and illness prevention, disease process,
expected and possible adverse effect to medications with emphasis on vaccination.

 Utilize the multi-disciplinary approach, coordinates community activity when assigned as charge
nurse.
 Care taken for the postoperative patients such as Appendicectomy, Cholecystectomy,
Herniorrhaphy, Caesarian section, Amputated legs & Laprotomy.
 Collect blood samples, whenever necessary for blood investigations, do ECG taking, IV
Cannulation, Vital signs monitoring, Oxygen saturation monitoring by pulse oxymeter,
maintaining parenteral nutrition & medication by syringe pump and infusion pump
 Insertion of Foley's catheter and Nasogastric tube and taking care of such patients.
 Conduct Anti-natal check-up, Immunization, Health education regarding proper antenatal visit to
clinic, nutrition and danger signals in pregnancy
 Assisted in Endotracheal intubations and CPR.
 Monitor mother and foetus for high risk pregnancy cases.
 Provide psychological support to patients and relatives.
 All aspects care of Postnatal Patients and the new born babies including episiotomy and stitch
care, monitoring the complications doing the new born care such as baby bath, eye cord care
 Preparing the patients for normal delivery and caesarians sections
 Preparing patients for gynaecological operations such as Hysterectomy
 Monitor FHS and conduct normal delivery.
 Assist for newborn care.

Types of cases & Patients

Myocardial infraction, Angina, CCF, Heart block, bronchial asthma, COPD, ARDS, pneumonia
metabolic and hepatic encephalopathy. Accident cases head injury cases, congestive heart disease,
CRF, ARF, Patients undergoing Dialysis, COPD, Paralysed Patients, Encephalitis, Nephrotic
Syndrome, Nephropathy, Neuropathy, Bedridden Patients, Antenatal & Post Natal Patients, New
born Babies, Malignancy disease, Infectious disease, Local and seasonal deceases, Seizure
disorder.

Post Operative Care of Patients under gone:


Laprotomy, Gastrectomy, APR, Colectomy, Whipples operation, Oseophagectomy, Mastectomy,
Pneumonectomy, Lobectomy, Thoracotomy, Thyroidectomy, Hysterectomy, LSCS, Hernia
repair, Colostomy, Laparoscopic cholecystectomy and appendicectomy, Diagnostic laparoscopy,
Laparoscopic Surgeries, Abdominal repair

Additional Qualification:

Basic Life Support (BLS): Qualified.


Holding valid DHA (Dubai Health Authority) License.
HAAD Licensure Examination for Registered Nurse passed.
