Module 2: Philippine Setting

INTRODUCTION
The Philippine is an archipelago with mountainous and rugged terrain. The abundance of
natural resources both land and sea makes it an ideal habitation of numerous living organism
both flora and fauna, some of them are endemic in the area.
Indeed a Pearl of the Orient as some authors describe the country and it really lives to its
billing. With towering mountains, majestic volcanoes, luxurious white beaches, crystal clear
rivers, mysterious caves are really captivating not only to the local tourist but as well as the
foreign tourists.
In this chapter let us rediscover the beauty of the Philippines once more and be captivated to its
enchanted beauty.

INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES


1. Determine the basic geographic features of the Philippines;
2. Identify the different flora and fauna of the Philippines; and
3. Create awareness of the environmental conditions the country is facing.

The Philippines is an archipelago with 7641 islands. Located just above the equator. A beautiful
