EXPLANATION: But the number actually fluctuates and so its really much closer to a recent count of

7,641 islands. The reason for this is that sometimes the islands submerged bcoz of climate change or
they discover new islands or they could be taken from us.

Also the Philippines is divided into three major part which is the LUZON, VISAYAS, and the MINDANAO
consisting a topography of the mountainous terrains. [ UM A DENSE FOREST, PLAINS BAYS, COASTAL
AREA, RIVER SYSTEM AND THE SPECTACULAR LAKES]. So the Philippines was famous with this features.

The Philippines is also considered as the MEGA BIODIVERSITY of the highest percentage and flora and
fauna endemism.

SO WHAT IS FLORA AND FAUNA ENDEMISM?

So these pieces are the plants and animals that found in a particular places or geographical region of the
world. So today I will be presenting the major features of the Philippines.

MOUNTAINOUS

First one is the SIERRA MADRE it is the longest mountain range in the Philippines spanning over 500
kilometers so it runs in the province of Cagayan to the province of Quezon forming a natural shield for
typhoons.

Second one is the MT. APO the highest peak of the Philippines also known as the [ APO SANDAWA]. And
it was recorded in the 24th highest peak on the earth.

NEXT IS VOLCANOES

First is the TAAL VOLCANO, this volcano is one of the most um active volcanoes in the Philippines with a
record of 34 historical eruptions of the history in the Philippines this is a caldera of the taal lake in the
Philippines it was located in the province of Batangas.

The second one is the MAYON VOLCANO, this volcanos is a famous tourist spot of the Philippines
because of this re owned perfect cone.

Third is MOUNT PINATUBO, Pinatubo is one of the active structure volcanoes located in Zambales
mountain in the tri-point area of Zambales, Tarlac and Pampangga all in the central Luzon islands.

Fourth is the MT. KANLUAN, it is an active strata volcano and the highest mountain in the island of
Negros in the Philippines also this MT. KANLAUN was recorded that the 42nd highest mountain peak in
the whole world.

Fifth is the MT. HIBOK-HIBOK, this is also a strato volcano were located at, Camiguin island in the
Mindanao of the Philippines.

NEXT IS THE COASTAL AREAS

First is the Manila Bay it is the Philippine major economic activity ranging from industrial commercials
and etc.
Second is the Hundred Islands it is the first natural park and protected area located at Alminos, laguna
the island is totaling a hundred and plus low tide and a hundred and plus high tide it was scattered in the
southeast of metro manila between the province of laguna.

The third one is Puerto Princesa it is a coastal city on Palawan Island in the western Philippines, one of
the famous tourist spot in the Philippines its based on the boat trips, massive, limestone cave
underground rivers and sabotarian river port.

NEXT IS RIVERS

First is Cagayan River also known as the rio grande Cagayan longest river and the largest river by
discharge volume of water in the Philippines and has a total land of approximately 505 kilometers.

Second is the Pasig River it is a river that connects with the laguna bay to the manila bay and it bisects in
the Philippine capital of manila and surrounds a urban area to the northern and southern.

Third is the Panay River, the longest river in Panay islands in the Philippines a total land of
approximately 152 kilometers and a drainage a basin area of 2,706. 76 square kilometers.

The fourth one is the Agusan River, it is the longest river in Mindanao Philippines, so it rises in the south
east and flows to the northward for 245 miles or 340 kilometers to enter the Butuan bay of Bohol sea.

NEXT IS THE LAKES

First is the laguna lake also known as the Laguna de bay, it is the largest lake in the Philippines located in
the southeast of Metro Manila between the province of laguna in the south and rizal for the north.

Second is Lake Lanao a large ancient lake in the Philippines, located at the Lanao del sur province in the
country’s southern islands of the Philippines absolutely the largest lake in Mindanao.

Third one is the Taal lake, also known as the Bombon lake, it is a freshwater, volcanic crater lake in the
province of Batangas in the Philippines.

THE LAST ONE IS THE WATERFALLS

The first one is the Pagsanjan Falls, also known as the Cavinti Falls, one of the famous falls in the
Philippines, it is located at the province of laguna, this falls is the major tourist attraction in the region.

The second one is the Maria Christina falls, a waterfalls and coming from the agus river in the northern
Mindanao region of the Philippines of Iligan City.

SO NOW WE TALKING ABOUT THE CLIMATE OF THE PHILIPPINES

WHAT ARE THE CLIMATE OF THE PHILIPPINES, the climate of the Philippines is tropical and maritime It
is characterized with relatively high temperature, high humidity and high rainfalls or even typhoons.

EXPLANATION: It is because we are near at the Ring of Fire, ring of fire where the typhoons were
created.

The Philippines has two seasons, so the climate of the country can be divided into two seasons, so the
Philippines has rainy season which starts in June to October or it may last also in December, the second
one is the dry season which start in March to May, however the dry season is subdivided further into a
cold dry season which start in December to February and a hot dry season that start in march to May
that we can call it a summer time.

And lastly we will talking about the different species, we have in our country. Did you know that the
Philippines is home to twelve thousands plant species more than six thousand. Plants in the Philippines
are unique. APIL NA DIDTU ANG MGA herbal plants, mga ginagamit nato for medication LIKE BAYABAS,
TAWA-TAWA, LAGUNDI AND ETC. . Our country also have a 800 to 1000 species of different orchids in
the Philippine also called the highest, one of the highest numbers of different orchids in the whole
world. The Philippine orchids come in with amazing arrays shape and sizes and not just that we also
have the different animals that are very famous in the Philippines. We have a tarsier, tamarao, pilandok
and we have the Philippine eagle and crocodile and many more.

The geography plays a key role in understanding the culture. Why? IT IS BECAUSE BY LEARNING OR
STUDYING THE Geography or the geographical features of the Philippines we can see in those different
cultures we haven’t seen or encountered and by studying this we can actually learn and adapt the
different cultures they represented the Geographical features of the Philippines in order for us to
understand to appreciate and to locate, the different beautiful places we have in the Philippines.
