Life and Works of Deendayal Upadhyay
Outlines of tests, syllabi & courses of reading
Objectives of the Paper: This paper has been designed to update the students about the
life, life struggle and family conditions of Deendayal Upadhyay-how he
received education even while facing acute hardships in childhood losing
all his near and dear at early age, his association with the RSS and
Bharatiya Jana Sangh, how he created a new path in politics by describing
himself as a ‘cultural ambassador in politics’, his mysterious death at
Mughal Sarai Railway Station and his overall impact on Indian politics.
Expected Outcome: After studying this paper the students are expected to have deep
understanding of the thought of Deendayal Upadhyay and his role in the
national movement. The students will also be able to understand how his
thoughts are relevant today in India and globally. The students are also
expected to understand the hardships and struggle that Deendayal faced in
his childhood and how he excelled in his life as a thinker, philosopher and
a political activist with a difference.

Objectives of the Paper: This paper has been designed to update the students about the
social and political thoughts of Deendayal Upadhyay, particularly Integral
Humanism, its meaning and concepts, Cultural Nationalism, its meaning
and concept, fundamental economic thoughts, rural reconstruction,
Antyodaya and his thoughts on Capitalism, Communism, Socialism and
Society.
Expected Outcome: After studying this paper the students are expected to have deep
understanding of the basic thoughts of Deendayal Upadhyay particularly

Objectives of the Paper:This paper has been designed to help the students to compare the
thoughts of Deendayal Upadhyay with other eminent thinkers of modern
Bharat including Mahatma Gandhi, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia, Dr. BR
Ambedkar, MS Golwalkar and Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookerjee.
Expected Outcome: After studying this paper, the students are expected to have
understanding of the similarities and dissimilarities between the thoughts
of Deendayal Upadhyay and other eminent thinkers including Mahatma
Gandhi, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, Dr. BR Ambedkar, MS Golwalkar and
Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee.

Course-Outcomes- To make students understand about Pandit Peendayal Upadhyays thought
about integral humanism.
Learning-Outcomes- Students will be able to analyze the western and Indian philosophy of
life, society and Nation.
Attendance Requirements: Students are expected to attend all lectures in order to be able to
fully benefit from the course. A minimum of 75% attendance is a must failing which a student
may not be permitted to appear in examination.

P.G. DIPLOMA IN DEEN DAYAL UPADHYAY THOUGHTS
(Minimum Qualification for Admission and other Details)
1. Each paper will be of eight credits. All five papers will be of total 40 credits.
2. Each paper will be of 200 marks.
3. A Bachelor’s Degree in any faculty of a University established by law in India,
including Shastri.
Or
Degree of Foreign University which may be recognised equivalent for the
purpose by the Vice Chancellor
4. The duration of the Diploma in Deendayal Upadhyaya Thoughts shall be one
academic year. Examinations shall be held twice a year ordinarily in the months
of December-January (mid-term) and May-June (end term). The date to be
notified by the Controller of the Examinations.
5. The Examination shall consist of five papers. The syllabi shall be as prescribed
by the Faculty of Centre for Deendayal Upadhyaya Studies from time to time
6. The medium of instruction of the examination shall be English or Hindi or
Sanskrit.
7. A candidate shall be required to attend 75% of the classes.
8. The minimum number of marks required to pass the examination shall be 40%
in each paper. The pass candidates shall be classified as under:-
i) First Division:- Those students who obtain 60% and more of the
aggregate marks. A candidate obtaining 75% or more of the aggregate
marks shall be shown to have passed the examination with distinction.
ii) Second Division:- Those students who obtain 50% marks but less than
60% of the aggregate marks.

iii) Third Division:- All those students who pass the examination obtaining
40% and less than 45% marks out of the aggregate marks will be
classified in third division.
