1 MATH 9 - M1 - Lesson 1A Final Qa DIGITAL 1
This module was to deliver the most effective way to understand quadratic equations in
the easiest way we can. This is based on the MELCs or the most essential learning
competencies designed by DepEd to bring the quality of learning in this most trying times
of global pandemic. You will be able to discover and enjoy quadratic equations at its best.
Solving quadratic equations using different methods are the skills to be developed in this
module. The lessons are organized based on the standards set by the Department of
Education. Your perseverance and determination in learning this module will guarantee
your success.
Pre - Assessment
I. Multiple choice. Write the letter of the correct answer for in your answer sheet for
each item.
2
II. True or False. Read carefully and analyze each statement. Write T if the statement is
True and F if it is False. Write the letter of the correct answer in your answer sheet for
each item.

3
What’s New?
Activity 2: What am I
Identify the linear and quadratic expressions among the list in the table. Copy each
expression to the right column
What is it?
In the equation a a 䁏

Illustrative Examples: A quadratic equation can be written in any of the following forms
Example #1
Write the quadratic equation ′ 䁏 t in a b c
standard form and identify the values of a, b, and c.
Example #2
Write the quadratic equation ⪨ 䁏 ⪨ in standard form a b c
and identify the values of a, b, and c.
Example #3
Write the quadratic equation ꐀ 䁏 ൌ⪨ in standard form and a b c
identify the values of a, b, and c.
What’s More?
A. Identify which of the following equations are quadratic and which are not. Simplify each
equation and write QE in your answer sheet if the equation is quadratic or NQE if it is
not a quadratic.
B. Write each quadratic equation in standard form ax2 + bx + c = 0 and identify the values
of a, b, and c.

What I Have Learned
Quadratic equations are equations on the second degree. It can be written in three
different forms:
⪨ ᥍ 香⪨ ᥍ ꀀ 䁏
⪨ ᥍ 香⪨ 䁏
⪨ ᥍ꀀ 䁏
The lesson directs you to describe quadratic equations through different
mathematical concepts. Real-life situations were also given to let you, learners
formulate quadratic representations. The skills you may acquire in this lesson
together with the previously mastered mathematical concepts and skills will prepare
you for the next lesson.
There are lots of examples that show the illustrations of quadratic equations in real-life
situation. Give at least 3 examples of real-life situations that Illustrates quadratic equations
Assessment
Quadratic Equation is a second degree equation because its highest exponent is 2. You
can identify the values of the coefficient of each term when it is written in standard form.
Assessment 1: Multiple choice. Write the letter of the correct answer in your answer
sheet for each item.
7
1. The following are quadratic equations, except:
A. ⪨ ꐀ䁏′ C. ⪨᥍ 䁏
B. ⪨᥍ ⪨ 䁏 D. ⪨ ꐀ 䁏 ൌ⪨
Assessment 2: True or False. Read carefully and analyze each statement. Write T if the
statement is True and F if it is False.
Additional Activities
Provide the necessary information or values for each of the following quadratic equations
inside the table.

Quadratic Equations Standard Form a b c
1. 4x2 – 3x – 7 = 0
2. 8x2 – 9x = 9
3. x2 – x = 0
4. 5x(x - 3) = 12
5. 8x2 – 4(x) = - 6
6. (x - 5) 2 = 8
7. (3x–2)(4x+5) = 0
8. (x + 3)2 = 0
