Ex.5
Read the five short summer holiday stories below. Then, answer
the questions under the text.

1. Sara went on a summer holiday to the beach. She collected seashells


and picked a beautiful keychain as a souvenir. But when she got
home, she realized she forgot to pack the keychain! She was surprised
and felt sad. Next year, she will be more careful.
2. Tim and his family had a great holiday in the mountains. They hiked
and had picnics every day. When they returned home, they saw their
living room was a mess! Their playful dog had knocked over some
things. They were surprised but laughed while cleaning up together.
3. Maria spent her summer holidays with her grandparents in the
countryside. She loved it there. When she got back home, she found a
letter in her mailbox. It was from her grandparents, and they told her
how much they missed her. She was surprised and felt happy reading
the letter.
4. Alex had a fantastic summer at the beach. He swam, built sandcastles,
and wore his cool sunglasses every day. But when he returned home,
he couldn't find his sunglasses! He looked everywhere, but they were
gone. He felt surprised and sad. Next time, he'll remember to double-
check before leaving.
5. Emily went on a summer holiday to a big city. She had a great time
exploring museums and trying new foods. But the best part was when
she made a new friend at the park. They played together every day.
When Emily returned home, she missed her new friend a lot. She was
surprised by how quickly they became friends. She wrote a letter to
her new friend, promising to visit again next summer.
