Instructions & Sample Pages
Printing Notes:
1) If you are using a smaller notebook, you can go to your
print options and have the pages print at 85% and they
should fit.
2) On pages 2, 5, and 7 I have doubled up the material to
save you paper. So for those pages, you only need to
have one copy per 2 students.

Cut out the base page (along the dotted lines) on page 1 and
glue them in the notebook. Then cut out all the letters from
page 2. Glue the letters on the base page to make a word
that matches the picture. Optional: Color the pictures.

Cut out the base page on page 3 (only around the
edge on the dotted line) and glue it in the notebook.
Cut along the dotted lines on page 4 to cut out the
five word squares. Put glue on the left of each
picture (in the space with the picture of a glue stick)
and put the matching words on top. Now you can
fold the word back on the solid line to see the
picture underneath.

Cut out on the dotted lines on page 5. Don’t cut the
words or pictures apart, leave them as long strips.
Glue the title at the top of a page in the notebook.
Trace the words, then glue the strip on the left side
of the page in your notebook. Color the pictures,
then glue that strip on the right side of the
notebook. Draw a line from each word to the picture
that matches. (If you aren’t using a notebook,
students can just glue this on a separate piece of
paper.

Cut on the dotted line on page 6 and glue the page
into your notebook. Cut out the letter squares on
page 7 on the dotted lines. Put glue on the spaces
with the picture of a glue stick and stack the letters
on top of each other. The order does not matter,
except the letter without the picture of a glue stick
should be put on top. You should be able to fold
back the letters and read the words. Write each
word on a line.

Students can complete the mystery picture at the
end of each word family for a fun review. They can
cut out the finished picture and glue it in the
notebook.
