Overview

The Cisco Agri Challenge was launched in December 2020 by The/Nudge Prize, in partnership
with the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, to double the income of 1
million farmers.

The winners of the Challenge, announced in April 2022, were S4S Technologies and BioPrime
AgriSolutions, winning Rs 1 crore and Rs 25 lakh respectively. 8 Finalists competed for the
Grand Prize, with 5 of them receiving milestone grants of Rs 15 lakh each, bringing the prize
purse to a total of Rs 2 crore.

With regard to this, The/Nudge Prize, in partnership with Cisco, is seeking proposals from
research and evaluation agencies/ consultants to evaluate the journey, growth and
performance of the contestants, with a focus on the winners, a year after the challenge.

Impact Study : Scope & Deliverables


The scope of the Impact Study will include an evaluation of the outcome of the Cisco Agri
Challenge based on the following key themes.

The Deliverables of the impact study include :

1. Report on the 8 Finalists and an in-depth study on the 2 Winners' journey for
circulation within the Agri-ecosystem
○ The contribution of the Prize money - both milestone and grand prize - to
innovation, overall growth of the organization, operational scale etc
○ The organization’s plan to have established mechanisms to measure social
impact through the market
○ The organization’s current status on farmer centricity, profitability and social
and environmental outcomes
○ Comparison between initial and current focus on SHF-based interventions
(quantitative & qualitative aspects will be covered)
○ The role of media & public attention on the organization’s market
attractiveness & ability to grow from their baseline
○ The role of measurement and evaluation in validation of the organization’s
work and contributing to focus on impact

2. Report on evidence of the traction built by the Cisco Agri Challenge


○ Traction built by the interventions and any specific contribution of
activities to the journey of the Finalists or winners
○ Traction observed by investor partners in the Finalists/Winners, and in
their areas of work. For example, investment in S4S Technologies (winner)
and near-site food processing

3. Report on program design learnings to be used to improve program design


○ Feedback & recommendations from contestants and ecosystem members
○ Experiences of the Finalists & Winners, ecosystem partners, evaluation
team, Cisco team, The/Nudge Prize team and other stakeholders.

The questionnaire tools, field notes and raw data will also be shared and aligned with
The/Nudge Prize team.
