ELE0006 Solar Diagnostic Tool SMS

This document provides a user's manual for an SMS (Solar Monitoring System) program. The SMS program allows users to monitor, graph, test, diagnose, and view histories of excavator data by communicating with the excavator's e-EPOS controller. It provides real-time monitoring of sensor data, input/output statuses, and operating modes. It also allows users to graph key sensor data over time, save data files, and view offline graphs to analyze excavator performance. The user's manual outlines the SMS program functions, hardware connections, menus, installation instructions, environment settings, and explanations of the main monitoring, graphing, and other menus.

1. SMS Program Introduction
1.1 Functions supplied
This SMS program supplies following functions by carrying out the communication
with the
e-EPOS controller installed to an excavator and IBM interchangeable PC of a user.

„ Monitoring : Monitors the current informations/data which e-EPOS controller has.

„ Graph : Shows the major sensor data of excavator as a graph, and can save the data
to the hard disc, making it possible to check the status of the excavator by
analyzingand comparing.

„ Test : Carry out various simulation by activating the output signal from e-EPOS
controller by force

„ Diagnosis : Shows current failure information and past ones which e- EPOS
controller has.

„ History : enables to analyze the working trend or style, which shows the operating
hours as per each work mode and used hours of filter & oil.

1.2 Hardware Connection

To carry out the communication between e-EPOS controller and external PC, cable for
communication is necessary.
This cable should connect the test connector of an excavator and the COM port of the
user’s PC.
Note) When connecting or disconnecting the cable, the power of excavator should be
off.

1.3 Menus
Whole menus of SMS are as follows.

Click the icon to

run each menu

z Quit : Quit the program

z Execute : Monitor, Graph, Test, Diagnosis, History
z Set : Communication setting, Unit setting
z Download : Download the program of e-EPOS controller

The 5 sub menus of Execute menu can be run by clicking the icons located on the main
program screen.

1.4 SMS program Installation

To run the SMS program properly, necessary specification of the PC is,

- 32MB memory (min)
- IBM interchangeable PC with WIN95, WIN98, WIN2000, WIN XP
- Processor with PENTIUM 200MHz (min)

1) Manual Installation

„ OCX file Registration

After copying the 2 OCX files of CWUI.OCX and MSFLXGRD.OCX to the
“WINDOWS\ SYSTEM” folder, carry out “system registration” as follows.

⇒ method : c:\windows\system\regsvr32 cwui.ocx [enter]

Do same job for the other files.

„ DLL file copy

Copy MFC42D.DLL, MSVCRTD.DLL, MFCO42D.DLL files to “WINDOWS
\ SYSTEM” folder.

2) Automatic Installation

If you run the SMS installation program, OCX & DLL file will be registered
automatically.
Only in the case that you don’t have the installation program, you need to install the
program manually.
2. Environment Setting

2.1 Communication Environment Setting

To carry out the communication with e-EPOS properly, all the communication data of
this program should be set correctly.

☞ How to set the Communication Environment

Select [Set] - [Comm. Set]

will be saved as “UNIT.DAT” file. Referring to the file, each sensor value with the set
unit will be shown on the screen.
2.3 Download

This function is used to change the program of e-EPOS controller due to a possible
engineering change of the e-EPOS controller. It make it possible to add or remove a
certain function of e-EPOS controller easily just by changing the program, without
alternating/replacing the hardware (e-EPOS controller).

☞ How to change the program of e-EPOS controller

Turn the excavator’s start key to just “ON” position (engine ; stop )

Click [Download] - [e-EPOS Program Download]

Enter the Password assigned to an authorised person

When below dialogue box shows, press the “Continue” button

Chooose the data file(*.BIN) to change from the directory wher e-EPOS program is

3.2 Graph Display
Through Comparing and analyzing the 8 important data related to the excavator
performance ( engine speed, F-Pump pressure, R-Pump pressure, power shift valve
input current, TPS voltage, boom cylinder pressure, transmission pressure, battery
voltage), you can carry out the performance test by this function.

Details are as follows.

„ Graph display on real time base : Shows the data of specified sampling time,
communicating with e-EPOS controller.

„ Output data saving to a file : Saves the received data from e-EPOS controller to a
file

„ Off line data display : Loads the data from the saved file in PC and shows it as a
graph. In this case, communication with e-EPOS controller is not necessary.
