ELE0006 Solar Diagnostic Tool SMS
ELE0006 Solar Diagnostic Tool SMS
USER’S MANUAL
Graph : Shows the major sensor data of excavator as a graph, and can save the data
to the hard disc, making it possible to check the status of the excavator by
analyzingand comparing.
Test : Carry out various simulation by activating the output signal from e-EPOS
controller by force
Diagnosis : Shows current failure information and past ones which e- EPOS
controller has.
History : enables to analyze the working trend or style, which shows the operating
hours as per each work mode and used hours of filter & oil.
To carry out the communication between e-EPOS controller and external PC, cable for
communication is necessary.
This cable should connect the test connector of an excavator and the COM port of the
user’s PC.
Note) When connecting or disconnecting the cable, the power of excavator should be
off.
1.3 Menus
Whole menus of SMS are as follows.
The 5 sub menus of Execute menu can be run by clicking the icons located on the main
program screen.
1) Manual Installation
2) Automatic Installation
If you run the SMS installation program, OCX & DLL file will be registered
automatically.
Only in the case that you don’t have the installation program, you need to install the
program manually.
2. Environment Setting
To carry out the communication with e-EPOS properly, all the communication data of
this program should be set correctly.
Caution
If you changed the set communication environment, quit the program and re-run it
to have the changed setting effective.
2.2 Unit Setting
You can set the convenient unit of pressure and temperature which will be shown on the
program .
“UNIT.DAT”
file originated
After selecting the unit you want, press the “Set” button. Then the set unit information
will be saved as “UNIT.DAT” file. Referring to the file, each sensor value with the set
unit will be shown on the screen.
2.3 Download
This function is used to change the program of e-EPOS controller due to a possible
engineering change of the e-EPOS controller. It make it possible to add or remove a
certain function of e-EPOS controller easily just by changing the program, without
alternating/replacing the hardware (e-EPOS controller).
Turn the excavator’s start key to just “ON” position (engine ; stop )
3.1 Monitoring
You can see various data of excavator on real time base. Choose [Execute]-[monitor] or
click the “monitor” icon from the main menu shown in section 1.3 to run this menu.
Pilot Lamp output Status : Shows ON/OFF condition of the pilot lamps on the
monitor panel.
Charge, Engine oil pressure, Overheat, Working lamp, Overload warning
Enables to save the condition of excavator as a file on real time base, or see the data which was saved as
a file before.
When tha data is saved, current time information is saved also and the format of the saved file is
*.MON”.
3.2 Graph Display
Through Comparing and analyzing the 8 important data related to the excavator
performance ( engine speed, F-Pump pressure, R-Pump pressure, power shift valve
input current, TPS voltage, boom cylinder pressure, transmission pressure, battery
voltage), you can carry out the performance test by this function.
Graph display on real time base : Shows the data of specified sampling time,
communicating with e-EPOS controller.
Output data saving to a file : Saves the received data from e-EPOS controller to a
file
Off line data display : Loads the data from the saved file in PC and shows it as a
graph. In this case, communication with e-EPOS controller is not necessary.
To run this menu, select [Execute]-[Graph] from the main menu screen of section 1.3, or
click the “Graph” icon
note) X axis : Means time. The smallest scale is the set sampling time.
Ex) In case that set sampling time is 20mS, 1 large scale(10) of X axis is
200mS
(20mS * 10), i.e 0.2 second.
1) How to display real time based data graph
Select “STOP” mode (At data receipt mode, saving data is impossible)
Determine if you will save all the data stored in buffer or part of the data which
appears on the screen.
If you press the save button, data saving dialogue box will appear, then enter the file
name.
[Saved file format is Excel format, and you can see its sample (A-1) in the last page of
this manual]
Ref)
Regardless of the time set in the “Sampling Time” menu, the saved data’s time unit is 20mS.
Select Sampling Time you want to see the data on and press the “Apply” button.
To display the data of set sampling time, press the “saved data display button” of step

3.3 Test
Using this function, you can test the machine by changing the output of e-EPOS
controller intentionally. You can simulate any situation easily which can not be realized
with actual excavator. To execute it, select [Execute]-[Test] menu, or click the “TEST”
icon on the main menu screen of section 1.3.
Output current to power shift valve (Pump power mode control) : 0 ~ 600 mA’s
current output
Solenoid valve energizing : Pressure up, High speed travel, Swing priority, Spare
out 1 & 2 (ON/OFF)
Engine Throttle Output : Standard mode, Auto Idle, Overheating, Work mode
(Wheel Exca)
☞ Ex) If you want to give 500 mA to the power shift valve intentionally,
Select “Enable” from “Permission” table, then first you will face below
“Confirmation” box
Enter the Password assigned..
Caution
Adjust the dial button or enter the intended value directly to the edit box.
Click the “RUN” button.
Switch the “Permission” to “Disable” and exit the menu
Caution
Through this function, you can find out the real time failures which is occurring
currently and past failure information which occurred before from e-EPOS controller.
To execute this menu, choose [Execute]-[Diagnosis] or click the “Diagnosie” icon from
the main menu screen of section 1.3.
If you click the “Request” button in left bottom, the number of failure and its respective
error codes which are occurring currently are displayed.
If you want to know the information of each error code, click the red button with error
code number or select the error code number from the “Fault Code Information” box as
follows.
3.4.2 Failure Log (Past Failure History)
If you click “Request” button in left bottom, the past failure information which was
Referring to the above figure, we can know that error code 21(Dial voltage error) has
occurred totally 1 time at the operating hours of 47 hr 58 min, and currently the failure
is occurring.
(Status ; Yes means that the trouble is not cleared yet)
The operating Hours shown above is the time when the trouble has occurred FIRST.
File Save & Load
Using “Save File” or “Load File”, you can save the past failure information displayed
on the screen, or load the data saved to a file previously to the screen.
When saved, the data includes current time information and the file format to be saved
is “*.HIS”.
3.5 History
Through this menu, you can get the information of accumulated working hours as per
each work/power mode & condition, used hours of filters/oil and software version of the
e-EPOS controller installed to the machine.
To have it available, select [Execute]-[History] , or click the “History” icon from the
main menu screen described in section 1.3.
When you operate the excavator, plenty of information is saved to the e-EPOS
controller. Processing the saved data, e-EPOS controller shows 1) various operated
hours as per various working mode and condition, 2) total operated hours on hour and
minute base.
Except total operated hours, each mode & condition’s operated hours can be initiallized
respectively and optionally.
note) Keep in mind that if any operated hours is initiallized, it can not be recovered.
Auto idle : ON
Operating hours displayed on the screen can be saved to a file and previously saved file can be loaded to
the screen. When saved, the data includes current time information and the file format is “*.WRK”.

exchange periods of various filters and oils used for the excavator.. The initialization
(reset) of the used hours in this menu has same effect with the monitor panel and it can
be done individually and optionally. Furthermore, the exchange period of each filter and
oil can be set by the user at his disposal using the “Write Exch.” Function and you can
Percentage against exchange period
find out the basic recommneded exchange period by pressing the “Default Exch.”
Button.
Initialization can be done optionally User can enter the exchange period
The information displayed on screen can be saved to a file and saved file can be loaded to the screen
using the “Save File” & “Load File”. When saved, the data includes the current time information and
the file format to be saved is “*.FLT”.
When a saved file is loaded on the screen file name and the time when it is saved is displayed on
